I feel like this could be a UO and a FFTC - but I think Prince was super hot.
Could not disagree more. I do not understand the sexual appeal so many women/men(?) feel there. He's just a weird, tiny man with amazing musical talent.
And you're totally right, he is definitely a weird, tiny man with amazing musical talent. I don't get my physical attraction to him. It's just one of those weird things that I cannot explain. Maybe his weirdness and amazing guitar shredding skills and ability to throw serious shade just wins me over. LOL.

Tiny men are not attractive to me. I do not want to be bigger than my mate. That being said, I am not attracted to really buff men either. If you weigh less than me or your pecks are larger than my chest I have a hard time finding you attractive. There are exceptions but prince was not one of them.
I may be singing a different tune if he had serenaded me.
While I love Bone Thugs and Sesame Street, I didnt think there was anything too clever about the "mash up" that people are posting. I didnt laugh, I just thought "Oh, you could do this to any song." To be honest, while typing this out I thought it was to "Gangstas Paradise" before I remembered the actual song.
This may be more of a it drives me crazy thing but I dislike it when parents bring in baby carriers to the toddler kindermusik class. It distracts the kids and I spend a lot of time keeping my kid a safe distance away. I'm very pro baby wearing in these situations.
I am just meh on Ed Sheeran. I think he's talented, and some of his songs are okay. I respect him as an artist, I just don't really like all his music.
krissybeck, those are horrendous. Like you put them on and forget that you haven't shaved your legs- which for me wouldn't happen cause how could I forget that I haven't shaved in like 2 weeks- but then you're trapped in them.
ashiscute, hate that song. A friend had another friend sing it at their wedding. The friend had a meh voice and kept adding choruses while they lit their unity candle. The song doesn't even mean what they thought it means.
I hate the song all of me by john legend so, so much. Like I want to drive into the nearest body of water when I hear it in the car.
I think it's a great song that got waaaaay overplayed. I still like it but most of time when it comes on I change to something else, and I LOVE John Legend.
It is sweet that he wrote that song for his wife Chrissy.
I find everything about Ed Sheeran and his music repulsive. (Which is unusual, because on paper he is right up my alley.)
I am curious. Can you be more specific in your reasoning?
I usually love gingers, particularly ones that aren't traditionally attractive, but I do NOT find him attractive at all. He always looks sweaty and like he smells. I also usually love guys writing songs and playing guitar and all that, but I have found myself on so many occasions, when one of his songs is on the radio, saying "UGH what is this CRAP?" only to find out that it's him. I didn't even realize it was his music, but I couldn't turn it off fast enough. He just...ugh. No.

Inspired by yesterday - I don't like putting my kids in lots of activities. This has become more solidified for me as they've gotten older. They have a swim lesson. DS1 has cub scouts. That's it. I've done some reading on pros/cons and really am embracing the non scheduled free play childhood. I know it will get busier as they get older, but no one is asking to do anything else at the moment. They are contented to traipse through the neighborhood with kids and have a blast.

Not everyone is so lucky to live in a neighborhood that's safe or has a lot of kids. Living in the "city" it's really hard to find a safe play space that isn't a playground that we've frequented a billion times. A will be trying 2 activities this spring/summer. They may be a waste of money, but at least we'll know what she likes/doesnt like and we can say we're trying ways to channel all of her energy. She really thrives on organized play seeing as she's incredibly overactive. And, I know I've mentioned it a ton, but seriously ACTIVE. Like, she's in daycare FT and we still have to take her to the playground afterwards for an hour to let her run around. What the heck else am I supposed to do with her??
I didn't do like a butt load of activities growing up, mostly just soccer starting when I was 4 (all year round, indoor soccer was also a thing) and choir. They both took up a lot of time, but helped to teach me discipline and keep me out of trouble. I don't know if I would have gotten into soccer if I started playing later on. It was great for me as a child though...... Burned energy, being around other kids outside of my norm, early lessons in teamwork and discipline, etc. It was all pros for me.

+1 especially for toddlers, i think it's ridiculous to pay for an activity for them.
i would be okay with a 4+ year old kid doing an activity if it was THEIR idea to do it. like, hey mom, i think it would be really fun to do martial arts, or take a cooking lesson, or whatever. but a kid that's under 2 barely knows their ass from their elbow.
kids need free play! i feel like my kids are already over-scheduled just by being in f/t daycare/preschool.
lonegalathome 's post reminded me of this one (though I know this is not what you were talking about). Not sure if it's unpopular, though I would be curious to find out. I dislike when people dislike the term or idea of play dates. Usually said in the context of, when we were growing up we didn't have play dates, we just played.
Sure, my kids "just play" with the next door neighbors, or kids they meet at the park, but what's wrong with making plans also? My kids are 1 and 4, they can't get there if Mommy doesn't take them.

lonegalathome I'm the same. Each kid can be in whatever activity they request but I'm not putting them in anything they don't mention. Luckily they only ask to be in soccer right now.
@wafflesfriendswork, what i meant was that, at least for my kid(s) they were/are just as happy hanging out at home, playing with toys and random household items, reading books, and running around in the yard as they would be at some $$$ activity. if everyone is having fun and you have extra money to throw around (i don't), sure, that's great. but i dislike the idea that many parents seem to have these days that kids NEED these expensive "enrichment" activities in order to be more well-rounded/smarter/keep up with their peers or whatever.

I am for sure in agreement with @lonegalathomen I want to have time for my kids to have family dinners at home, working on homework, spending time with our family playing outside, doing board games, etc...
I have three kids. If each is only in one sport that is three practices and three games that are likely played on Saturdays. It can become consuming beyond that quickly. I know that most of you have an H at home in the evenings and on weekends to share these duties. My H works when sports teams play and practice. It would be hard.
Some of my favorite childhood memories where sitting around the dinner table talking about our day. I want this for my kids. It was in this setting that I learned to have a respectful debate, I learned how to work through my problems from the day, and I learned how to to really listen to others when they were speaking. I personally think that too many activities and being pulled in too many directions can cause us to rush through life and miss some of the important moments.

If I had the money I'd have Elena in activities because I lose my mind home with both kids all day by myself. Next week her preschool is on spring break and I'm an anxious mess just thinking about it.
It seems like the "structure" of activities for toddlers is more like a theme - soccer balls, or gymnastic stuff, whatever. Toddlers gonna toddle, though, wherever they are. I can see it being helpful for learning how to listen to people in charge and some very basic organization, like standing in a line to wait your turn.
But please tell me what the hell I'm supposed to do with my kids all summer, please and thank you. I basically have no idea how to do anything with a baby because I did nothing with Elena when she was tiny. Like if I had her in swim lessons, what do I do with Max??

If you have Elena in swim lessons. Find a class where you do not have to be in the water with her. You hang out with max while she is in class.
Take your kids to the museum, to the park, to the library, farmers markets, playdates, nature centers, lunch dates with dad. Just hang out at home. Buy one do those small toddler plastic pools and have fun in your back yard.

Huh, I guess I thought all swim lessons at this age required a parent in the water. I will have to research.
I kiddie pool is a GREAT idea. Elena will lose her mind.
And when I receive a plant as a gift, it makes me irrationally angry because it's just one more living thing for me to nurture and keep alive and I know I will fail.
And also, I hate when how bad you are at plants comes up and someone goes, "Oh, you should get a _______! They are so easy. You only water them once a month!"

kristhegirl you totally have this! It is easier than you think. Do not let my husband know this. I get nice bottles of wine when I tell him I had a rough day.
