If your j12'er has curly hair do you use anything on it? Emma's hair is pretty curly and is usually just a frizzy mess. I just use regular kids shampoo to wash and spray bottle of water to wet it and scrunch it up after I comb it right now. Is there a better method? Should I be using a product? A special shampoo? Yikes. I need help.

I use kid shampoo, and then some of my conditioner after. I use detangling spray in the morning to brush it out. I would like it put it up more, so that it wasn't a poofy mess every day, but she takes any elastics, bows, clips out almost instantly anytime I fix her hair.
I use both shampoo and conditioner from the honest co. and the conditioning detangler in the mornings (with a spray of water) to refresh the curls. I'm thinking she needs a trim soon though because her hair is getting harder to manage.

We use a kids shampoo and a kids conditioner, occasionally in the mornings I use a detangler if it's bad. She gets a little pony or a braid every day to keep it away from her face.

Most of Cosette's curls were cut off in the haircut. Sad Panda. But before I swore by the cheapo Suave Kids detangler. Also if you want more tame curls I might use a "frizz-ease" product.
We just use J&J shampoo still, and detangler spray after bath, and if it's really a mess in the morning.
If her hair is really crazy and frizzy (as it has been lately) I use a small amount of my conditioner on her in the bath too.
Right now I've stayed away from product. When I comb it (especially when dry) I usually use my fingers to define the curls a bit and that helps smooth it out, especially with a tiny bit of water or detangling spray.
Thanks for the tips! It sounds like I need to try some conditioner and detangler. I guess at this age- where she rolls all over the carpet and sofa- tame curls are just too much to ask for! She looks like a little poodle by the end of the day, especially after nap at preschool- yikes!
The best tip I got from a hair stylist was to use a t-shirt to dry my curly hair instead of a regular towel to help combat frizz. I definitely think it makes a difference!

Yes, definitely try regular conditioner and detangler spray. It does make a difference. H's hair is so fine though, five minutes in the car seat just destroys anything good she's got going.
starfishy - you never know! I had pin straight hair growing up, but once I hit puberty (12 or 13), my hair went curly. Kayleigh's hair is super straight right now so it'll be interesting to see if it turns curly later on. Although I love little kids with curls
We had a small hair victory in my house...our sitter gave Ingrid a French braid the other day and she loved it. Now my child, who would remove any hair implement within 10 minutes, requests a braid every day and actually gets upset when we take t out at night. WHAAATTT?!?!?

Ditto. I had really straight hair as a kid, and in middle school I begged my mom for a perm (she was in cosmetology school) and she obliged.... but by the time the perm grew out I hit puberty full on and my hair was growing in part curly, part straight.... then by the time I was 15/16 it was curly all over.
It's not tight curls (especially after having J) but it's still curly if I want it to be... but I straighten it 95% of the time.

Yup- I don't have tight curls, but I still like that I can switch it up. I'm usually straight all winter and then curly in the summer. So basically my students and coworkers have no clue I have curly hair.
