UPDATE: so it snowed, again today. Another 4+ inches. So dinner was cancelled BUT i am happy to say MH drove willingly on the unplowed roads doing 20 mph or less to get me the most wonderful pasta ever. I'm a happy girl!!!
We were planning to go out to dinner tonight for my MILs bday to my fav Italian place that makes killer gnocchi in vodka sauce. Pasta so soft it practically melts in your mouth, makes you think about your grandmother's homemade pasta she used to make for family dinners, type good. I also made a carrot cake w cream cheese icing for after. Well we got like...4-5 inches of snow and that pretty much shuts down NJ so now its cancelled. Waaaaah! And i have this stupid cake in my fridge, teasing me. I'm pretty sure this is a nightmare.
Excuse me while i lose myself in a bowl of ice cream.
All of those things sound amazing, from the gnocchi to the carrot cake. Maybe you'll be snowed in so badly that you'll be "forced" to consume the cake for sustenance?
Gnocchi in vodka sauce is my FAVORITE! That's a bummer about the weather though. And I feel kind of bad admitting this, but I'm glad the storm stayed south/east because it totally missed us up in Western MA. I am so horribly sick of the snow. Hopefully you guys can make it up for another date, that sounds too good to miss out on.
I'm all about the food too. This was a major blow to the poor pregnant lady () who has been dreaming of this meal since last week.
I'm thinking we may have to at least get the pasta tonight. DH went to the gym so I'll ask him how the roads are. It really doesn't look all that bad out there. MH said he knew they would cancel bc they are "cautious". F that, I'm hungry!
Wait, he's at the gym?! Put down the computer, grab your phone and DEMAND that he pick up takeout on his way out. (Or better yet, call it in yourself and task him with pickup). Yes, it's only 3:10, but please Lord, let them be open for lunch. You don't want to risk not getting it and you can always re-heat or have early bird supper and cake for dessert!
I would have DH pick it up anyways if he's out and about, and then reschedule dinner with the ILs for another night. The only thing better than gnocchi, is gnocchi twice .

This really made me laugh!! How sad is it that i didn't even think about having him pick it up while he's out? DUH! Total no brainer!
Started TTC# 1 5/10
DX: Unexplained IF
Lots of IUI's and 3 IVFs later we have a daughter!

TTC #2 IVF #4 and an FET brought us DD #2 on St. Patrick's Day!
Shit! Now I want gnocchi!! Too bad it's an ice slick on all roads here or I would have DH at least buy some at the grocery store...no good Italian places near me in bumblefuck TN.

This snow bullshit has got to stop. I'm well west of the biggest snowstorms that have hit of late, but we've had a little every bloody day for ages, so we've got 3-4' outside. Much worse is that it hasn't been above freezing in well over a month, and there have been a lot of negative numbers thrown in. It's actually so bad that I'm going to request a temporary handicap parking pass for work, as the parking at my university is godawful, and I can't walk half a mile in ice in these temps any more.
Gnocci, carrot cake, whatever--put it in my mouth right now!!! Sounds amazing, and I'm sorry you missed it. I hope DH brings you a good treat!!
No. My IL's rescheduled the dinner for Sat instead. I sulked on the sofa for a long time afterward. I'm just too embarrassed to go there twice in one week.
MH said the roads are totally fine. Better today than yesterday (there was some leftover snow from the weekend that had iced over). That just makes me more mad.
DH went out and got me a chocolate milkshake tho so i am feeling better.

Lol, I love the update! Props to Mr Ducky (as an aside I totally ate carrot cake on Wednesday for our anniversary, I shared with H so it wasn't so awful for the GD.. I fully blame you for the craving )
