GTKY: After hearing that my case manager was once desperate enough to put breastmilk in coffee because she was out of cream, what's the weirdest breastfeeding related act you've done? Or done in the name of breastfeeding?
I'm nursing 5 times a day usually. Solids 3x a day with snacks thrown in occasionally.
Nights are good! She woke up last night but that's pretty rare these days.
Nursing is going well. DD has a cold but it doesn't seem to be slowing down her nursing though she doesn't want to eat much solid food.
I keep debating on when I want to wean and if I should drop her down to 4 nursing sessions. Part of me just isn't ready and the other part of me is worried it will interfere with our tfas. Ugh. It's messing with me emotionally!
GTKY: I guess the strangest thing is putting breastmilk on my own dry skin. Or donating some to another baby. I know that's done a lot but it was kind of a strange thought that a liquid that came from my body was used to feed another baby.

How often are you nursing? Solids? 4-5 times a day but he doesn't really nurse all that willingly except morning and evening. Solids 3 times a day plus 1-3 snacks depending on his interest. (Aka cuing hunger but refusing to nurse)
How are nights? Good lately.
How is pumping/nursing going? Eh, he is totally not interested except for thing in the morning and evening. Otherwise it's like pulling teeth. He never "asks" to nurse. Doctor said he's pretty much self weaning.
Q/rants/cute stories: he has two top teeth coming in now!

Use bm in oatmeal and stews and purées to try to make sure he's getting enough nutrition. Lol

How old is baby? 9 months
How often are you nursing? Solids? 3-4x per weekday/night, unknown on weekends. Solids 2-3x per day
How are nights? Fine when he's healthy. He's so very congested right now, which leads to a lot of half-wake-ups and whimpering all night long. And these are the first wake-ups where he outright refuses to nurse (because he can't breathe through the nose, I think), which was previously my go-to. It's sad.
How is pumping/nursing going? I had a 2-night work trip a few weeks ago and pumping has been soo uneven since. Currently in a I-didn't-get-enough phase, again. And every time I boost output, something happens that leaves me with a plugged duct. I'm not a fan.
Q/rants/cute stories: I used cabbage for a stubborn plugged duct a couple weeks ago, and my 3.5yo now periodically asks, "can I see the salad in your boob?" Makes me laugh wvery time
GTKY: I'm a black coffee drinker so I'll never understand how that might happen, ha. I have nothing similar. I've used milk topically and in purees and the like, but always on baby. I also didn't know I'd be so open with feeding/pumping around my older kid, see above. Just feels right though.

How often are you nursing? Solids? Nursing 3-6 times a day and off and on all night long.
How are nights? Rough.
How is pumping/nursing going? Pretty well, though she's gotten toothy during latch on occasion.
Q/rants/cute stories: nope
GTKY: My weirdest thing is kind of embarrassing, but whatever. I had a clogged duct a few weeks ago and I couldn't get it out so I got desperate thinking of only she would suck harder... So I sucked on my own nipple to pull it out. Lol. But in my defense I think it worked. So it was totally worth it.

How old is baby? 8 months yesterday
How often are you nursing? Solids? nursing about 3 times a day/night (I work & pump) and food 1-2 times a day
How are nights? sporadic!! He'll have like 3 amazing ones in a row then 3 god awful ones in a row. We can't seem to pinpoint any reasons or contributing factors
How is pumping/nursing going? great... still have an over flowing freezer because I'm pumping enough plus a little
Q/rants/cute stories: not BF related but we are starting swim lessons this weekend and I can't wait, I hope he likes it! My H poured the water right over his head/face in the tub and he totally didn't mind at all so that's probably a great sign
GTKY: After hearing that my case manager was once desperate enough to put breastmilk in coffee because she was out of cream, what's the weirdest breastfeeding related act you've done? Or done in the name of breastfeeding? lol I had considered using it in Mac & cheese when I was out of milk but I didn't actually do it! I can't think of anything crazy, once I had a friend fly into my city and I was showing him around all day and I had to duck into my car in the parking garage to pump twice during the day but that's about it.
It's been a few weeks since I checked in, but I'm still here!
How old is baby? 8 months today!
How often are you nursing? Solids? We NOD, maybe 5-8x a day and 2x overnight. Solids are a mix of purees and finger foods, twice a day. Kid loves mashing food in his face though.
How are nights? Very inconsistent. Sometimes he only up 2x, sometimes he screams for an hour at a time.
How is pumping/nursing going? Pumping is going the same- terribly. B takes two 4oz bottles at DC in addition to two solids. I pump the AM, 2x at work, and before bed. Most days I only pump 7oz. Nursing is fine. No issues.
Q/rants/cute stories: a little of a rant/cute story. When B nurses he is VERY distracted. He looooves to pop off and look for his big brother mid letdown. It's adorable how much they love each other , but being soaked in milk is not so much fun. His current position is half happy baby yoga pose while nursing. It's adorable.

Or done in the name of breastfeeding? I don't think it's too strange, but I've hand expressed milk on B's belly and chest before. When I took off the tape they put on for PT, it left a nasty rash/scrape thing that was so sore. BM really helped clear it up and keep it from drying out.

@led, oh man I'm almost jealous! Mine are not nearly big enough but that would be totally worth it. A couple of times, for a couple of bad clogs, I've gone so far as to ask my H, but I haven't been able to go through with it.

melody330, yes- mine is a distracted eater too! H can't even talk to me during nursing or he keeps stopping to look at him. Visited my brother the other day and my 3 year old niece was obsessed with DS...she was rubbing his head while he was trying to nurse and he kept stopping to look at her so I just gave up and fed him peaches instead LOL
