GKU IF Check-In 3/28

Happy Monday Tuesday!

This check-in is meant for anyone on GKU who has hit the 1 year mark of TTC (6 months if you’re over 35), has an infertility diagnosis, or is going through IF testing/treatment. It is meant to be a place for people to share and ask any questions who might not participate on 3T/IF and who would like the company of others going through the same experiences.

QOTW: Other than engagement/wedding rings, what jewelry do you wear daily?

I had a ton of blood drawn yesterday to check DHEA levels and get started on the IVF prep. My arm still hurts a bit! Other than that, no big IF updates.

QOTW: Other than my wedding band, I don't have any jewelry I wear every single day. I don't even wear my engagement ring all the time, if I'm painting or working in the scene shop. When I'm putting on other jewelry, I love changing it up and I have a lot that I rotate through.

My IUI got cancelled, I'm really bummed. I went in Friday and they said my follicles were responding but not quite where they needed to be, went back yesterday and they had shrunk. We'll proceed next month with adding 3 days of injectables to the clomid. I know it's not that big of a deal but I'm definitely disappointed.

QOTW: normally Kendra Scott earrings or necklaces, not everyday but a few times per week normally.

bex15 - Ugh, I'm so sorry your IUI was cancelled. I hope you respond well to the Clomid and injectibles next month.


AFM, I can't remember when I updated here last but we got a goal change for our older two foster sons at court a couple weeks ago! There is a still a long way to go, but the goal for their case is now (ultimately) adoption. Yay! Things are just getting started for our baby foster son. There is court for his case today, so hopefully things will start moving along for his case as well.

We're basically done TTC at this point, so I don't really know where I fit on TCF besides the adoption/foster care board. We're not really TTC, not pursuing IF treatments, and I still don't feel like a real parent yet (and probably won't until the adoptions are finalized). 

QOTW: On work days I always wear earrings, a watch, my 5th anniversary ring, and sometimes a necklace. On weekends I typically just wear my wedding band (without the engagement ring).

AFM: finding out more and more from the in home worker who will be leaving soon as another firm takes over those duties (contracted out from the county) so it may help or hurt the case with that happening depending on what new person sees. So interesting hearing all this stuff and what it may mean to the case. Bio family wants the next team meeting moved up from April 11th to before this person leaves on April 3rd. We are planning on being there for the April 11th meeting but if it gets moved we need to be informed of what is happening-so far nothing...sigh. Maybe it is staying the same. Overnights may be starting soon with the kids depending on what is determined with the new developments.

We are trying to figure out Easter and possible using respite due to probably most likely not being able to leave with kids due to visitations. But with it being a holiday weekend we may not be able to leave and see family (and then just be the 2 of us for most of Easter) if we can't get respite anyway....and with them not doing anything for Easter I'm annoyed that the caseworkers don't want to even ask.

QOTW: I wear a fair amount of jewelry-wedding/engagement ring, watch, earrings, and another ring on right hand everyday. Most days a bracelet of some sort-been wearing variety of keep bracelets and charms (enough of different things I have ordered and still want that I may sign up to be a consultant).

bex15 ughhhhh booooo. I’m so sorry you’re set back a month.
ceejay well, you KNOW I’m going to say that you belong with all of us no matter where you are in the TTC process (or end of that process). I’m SO excited that your two oldest foster sons are now updated to eventually be adopted!!! FX that the youngest little guy’s case will keep moving.
@butflerfan Gosh that’s so confusing and stressful, so many plates to keep spinning. I hope you figure out a good Easter plan.

AFM: CD1 started today, like 5 days earlier than I expected :\ At least it won’t be happening during this weekend because I’m standing up in a wedding and it’ll be nice not hemorrhaging that whole time. But I feel like my O symptoms were on time so I either am wrong about that or I had a pretty short LP. Hmph.

QOTW: Honestly, most of the time just my wedding rings. If I wear something else, it’s usually ONE more thing — my watch, a necklace, or earrings, but never any more than just one lol. I’m a minimalist I guess!

I have one vein that the phlebotomist at the RE office has learned to find. The first time, she had to stab both arms a couple times before she found the good one, and she was so apologetic. She has a great memory for patient veins though, since now she's fast enough that I barely notice the stab!

ceejay, congrats on the goal change! I know it's not done yet, but that's a big step.

butlerfan, ugh, that's so frustrating that everything keeps getting shifted on you. I hope you're able to figure out some good Easter plans, whether you're able to travel or it's just you and YH.

ohinvrtedworld, sorry about early CD1. But it's nice that you won't be on your period for the wedding!

what dose were you doing of clomid? Are you DOR? I can't remember your FSH or AMH levels....

I was on 50 mg of Clomid, all of my test results/levels were normal when we tested in December, only diagnosed with MFI.

so what injects are they putting you on?

I believe they said 3 days of follistem and 1 of Ovidrel. Does this sound normal to you?

Lurking. I couldn't take clomid due to thin lining so my RE had me go straight to follistim. I did 6 days of injects, triggered on cd10 and O'd on cd12. So it definitely helped grow some mature follies. I hope it helps with the follicle sizes for you too. Good luck next cycle and let me know if you have questions about follistim. I'm sorry to hear this cycle's IUI was canceled

*sigh* Can I have a seat again? I'm probably going to do treatment ASAP once we get cleared, but that may not be until this summer. Mayish?

QOTW: Other than engagement/wedding rings, what jewelry do you wear daily? I wear a smart watch every day, but I don't consider that jewelry. My ring is the only thing I wear regularly, occasionally I'll wear the necklace I got for Trooper for a week or two straight.

So we are supposed to have an answer by end of the week about Easter weekend. Please keep us in your prayers and thoughts as we deal with the next few weeks with this case.  Just based on some information that has been shared with me from in-home worker things may be changing.

butlerfan - thoughts and prayers for you, your H, and the kids! I'm sorry things have been so stressful and crazy for you guys lately. I hope you get good news about Easter weekend.

Court was okay, thanks for asking! Nothing could really be done at court this week because we're still waiting on the DNA paternity results for the baby and also the bio dad apparently needs to be assigned a new attorney for this case. So court was basically rescheduled for the end of next month, when the new attorney can be present and the DNA results will be ready. FX everything is in place at that court date, so that the adjudication hearing can hopefully be scheduled for May and this case can get moving along...

Unfortunately, I am back too. I'm not sure if we're going to do any treatment this year, but MH said if we can't get pregnant on our own by the end of this year then we'll do IVF in 2018. I don't know how active I'll be since we're still reeling from our loss, but I thought I'd dip my toes back in over here.
