Why are nursing tops so darn expensive? I have some tank tops that will work when it gets warm, but I needed some warmer tops so broke down and ordered some from Motherhood and Latched Mama. My usual "uniform" of tunics don't work well, too much fabric to pull up and try to stuff under my chin. I was so excited to be able to wear my LLR Irmas all throughout pregnancy but it didn't occur to me that they would be super annoying for nursing.
I love my Latched Mama t shirts, they are so comfy and actually flattering. But honestly I mostly just wear a stretchy tank with a shirt over it (just pull up the shirt and pull down the tank) or a cardigan, or a stretchy scoop-neck shirt I can pull down. Wrap dresses are great, too, I got a cute one from TJ Maxx for cheap. Actual "nursing" tops are definitely pricey, and sometimes not meant for big-boobed people.
I've been browsing Ulta and now have $70 in my cart. E needs more curl shampoo and I'm going to grab some conditioner as well. I want to grab that charcoal mask TJ mentioned. Plus I think it's time to switch up my eye shadow and I need a new mascara. And who doesn't like blue eyeliner? I don't have one yet. Plus it's only $3.
The kids let themselves out back and are playing nicely together. I'm sure they are covered in mud, and they have a big mess to clean up inside from snacks/coloring earlier, but I'm just gonna let them be. I like hearing them play together and I feel like it's a good opportunity for bonding and "independent" play. The back gate is locked, the door is open so I can hear them, so I'm not worried about their safety. Play on, kiddos.

I should stop before this gets worse.
I recently switched to the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, it's amazing. In case you need help upping your cart total
My lashes are really long. I just add mascara to darken them to add a pop. So I use cheap stuff.
For the record I really like the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lash. I just can't justify the extra $16 (my current one costs about $7). And I use enough that I actually need to buy one every 6 months.
I just upped my cart by adding in some sun screen for my face. I really need to start applying it daily. I don't spend a lot of time out doors, but now that summer is near I need to start a routine.
WHYYYYYY did I read the bed bugs thread on Parenting? Oh god, I feel so itchy.
Don't read the chicken pox thread.
I was just like, really? Why would you come into work with Chicken Pox!
I blame this board, it was slow here a couple of days ago so I went to look at the Blinds and got caught up. And seriously, people need to stop coming to work sick! Do not share your nastiness with the rest of the office, no thanks.

Have we totally changed our attitudes about chicken pox? I know it can be dangerous for adults who haven't had it, but when we were all kids people used to have chicken pox parties so their kids would get it! I'm not saying we shouldn't vaccinate against it if we can, just wondering why we've become so panicky about it when just 30 years ago people were like "meh" about it.

Chicken pox is extremely contagious. And after having a mild outbreak of shingles, I am glad I've vaccinated both my kids. Shingles can damage vision, hearing, and is painful. It causes nerve pain.
If you have been vaccinated you are less likely to contract it and instances of shingles are rare.

Also, getting chicken pox as an adult is way worse than getting the chicken pox as a kid. Adults are more prone to complications, which can include pneumonia, encephalitis, or inflammation of other major organs. It is also dangerous to pregnant women and young infants, so if anyone at your office is pregnant or has an infant, you do not want to spread it to them.
We're going to a black tie gala in NYC tonight. We are most definitely going to be 1/2 the age and SO much poorer than everyone else attending. It'll be interesting what the conversations will be about.
Why do I always encounter the dickhead older men who want to judge my parenting?
Took DS to "Intergenerational Gardening Day" with my 11 year old cousin who is on spring break. The dude running the coloring table was an asshole about the fact that DS was holding two colored pencils and I wasn't policing that (because DS was sitting happily and quietly and enjoying himself and I was coloring my own page) so we got up and left. My little cousin was at least understanding about it cuz the dude was an ass.
Sometimes people are the worst. Otherwise the event was fun though.

I can't help but giggle at Intergenerational Gardening Day with a coloring table.

Was there a sign stating "one pencil at a time only"?? Maybe he shouldn't have been placed at the coloring table.
yeah, this was a dude who clearly hasn't dealt with small children in a millennia. I did kind of tattle on him for being a dick to another lady at the event who was super nice. all the people in the gardening club are seniors, so she was older too, but she goes, "well, he is old" aka, he is crotchety. she even said he volunteered to work that table. hopefully he rethinks that plan next year.

Remember a while back when there was a thread about birth control and I said I hated mine? Well I talked to DH and we agreed to try FAM/condoms again. It has been about 3 weeks and I can't believe the difference in myself. I actually like my husband now, and I don't think it is just because my sex drive has returned. I wish I had just started back with FAM instead of getting on the pills to begin with.
Today I washed all our coats, snow pants, hats and mittens and hung them to dry. I got my snow tires off. I put the snow shovels in the back shed. And now it's effing snowing.
