I am at the dr right now for tailbone pain. I am being treated for a pilonidal cyst. It's in the early stages so we are trying to treat it with an antibiotic. I had one with ds 3 years ago and the antibiotic caused a yeast infection on my nipples. I wasn't concerned about passing it to him because I was EP'ing at the time. This time I am nursing successfully so I'm in unfamiliar territory. I asked for diflucan too. Is there anything I can do to prevent thrush in the baby?
treat LO with probiotics- not sure how old baby is, but you can get a kid's probiotic or just get the adult probiotics in capsules and pour some out onto your finger and swab in LO's mouth. or give LO a spoonful or two of yogurt with active cultures.
for yourself, i would try to eat lots of probiotic/fermented foods-- yogurt, kefir, kombucha, etc. Try to avoid sugar and refined carbs. you can also drink a tablespoon of unfiltered apple cider vinegar (such as Bragg) daily- dilute with water.
coconut oil (the unrefined kind) supposedly has antibiotic/antifungal properties, so you could try using that as a nipple cream.
