Thoughts on pre-baby celebration?

Sounds like an awesome idea! You don't have to mention the word baby on the invite or just say in the invite "Come over before I pop BBQ!"

I'm having one of those, but our excuse is we are getting stationed somewhere else. This will be our we will miss you all bbq. Last year we threw a bbq 2 weeks after my baby was born and too many touchy feely people I didn't know was angering me (DH coworkers and SO and +1s who came without invitations)! Before baby is here seems more appropriate this time around!

I think that depends on what you would do normally when inviting people over for a casual barbecue. Usually when I invite people over casually I either call or text, or maybe do a Facebook event. For more people I think calling or texting might be difficult. Basically do what you would normally do.

I think sending out invites would seem more shower-like. A FB invite is nice and casual.

You are right that people are going to give your LO presents regardless of whether you have a baby shower or not. I think the BBQ sounds fine. But I do not think formal invites are a good idea. Definitely do Facebook, text, phone, email, etc. instead.

Do a FB invite or Evite. Makes it seem more planned out than a text so people will be more likely to rave.

I think it's an awesome idea! You've got me thinking about wanting to do one too- I think it's totally appropriate to celebrate with friends befor your LO arrives!

I think it's a great idea. I'd definitely do FB and phone calls, but that's just because I'm never seen an invite for a BBQ here unless it's for something major (wedding reception, major anniversary, etc.).

I think this sounds like a good and fun idea too! I wouldn't give it a second thought about throwing it yourself. Definitely stay away from paper invites though. I would suggest E-vites just because I'm not a fan of FB invites.

To me it just sounds like a regular gtg anyone would have! It would be common for me to just get a text to get invited to something like this.

I think it's a great idea! A friend of mine did something similar, and just invited everyone over, guys and girls.

Sounds fun! I've been thinking about how to squeeze a summer's worth of fun into the first 2 weeks in June too. Love this idea!

We had friends who did something similar to this, they called it a Baby-Q. It was cute. Just low key afternoon at their house with the grill going and spenging time together, both guys and girls invited, kids too. Some people brought gifts, because, well, people love babies. It was awesome to see them one last time before becoming parents and enjoying the weather.
