I know lots of you are experts on allergies/formula so hoping to pick you brain a bit..
N has only had formula a handful of times..2 weeks ago she kept puking at school, but I thought it was bc she hadn't pooped in 36 hours, which is long for her, and then was fine.
She has 6 oz today and she just woke up in her carseat and puked everywhere. Apparently I've never seen baby puke, just spit up. She was soaked.
She's having Earth's Best organic. I'm thinking this is a reaction to the formula. What do I do now? Try another brand? Try soy? Any similar situations?
I'm going to make lactation cookies and eat all the oatmeal in the meantime. I feel awful bc she's in trouble on her weight curve, so I'm clearly not keeping up with her.
Update: MH reminded me that she has had this some other days without incident, but today we had her feed more recently and she has a cough...So technically she could have had a full tummy and gagged and puked. I'm not convinced, but maybe I'll walk myself off the ledge a few inches.
We also struggled with this. I agree with cagoldi she and I had similar experiences, I went from breastfeeding to Nutramigen to Elecare (similar to Alimentum).
cagoldicalishove did either of your LO vomit after having formula that clued you in that something was wrong? IIRC there were other symptoms. I just was reading Amazon reviews and some formulas have random reviews saying their baby puked so they switched.
I think I'll try one more day next week and if she pukes again I'll make a change. I am just supplementing, so this is a pain, but doc confirmed she still isn't gaining at the right rate and to up her bottle size and offer more frequently, and I'm barely getting 12 oz at work during the day and she needs 16+.

Symptoms vary widely, you might see vomiting/extreme spit up, persistent diaper rash, arching/pulling away from the bottle, a lot of gas, and diarrhea.
Some combination of these, to different degrees of severity I'd say would be good indications.

Yes to this.
Vomiting was never the only symptom of their intolerance/allergy, but it was usually the only symptom if that particular formula was not going to work for them.
Both boys could not keep Alimentum down at all. They would vomit about 15-20 minutes after a bottle. Again, this was definitely vomit, not spit up.
X's only issue with Nutramigen was loose stools.
If she is really vomiting and you are sure it isn't spit up, I would try out another formula. She can't gain weight if she can't hold down the milk...
This was clearly vomit. Her entire onesies was soaked as was carseat. J spitup after every meal but was just like a handful worth of spitup.
I'm going to pickup the Gerber gentle tomorrow and give that a try, thanks for the rec cagoldi, the reviews look good and sounds like a good next step before soy or one of the fancy ones.
