I have always, always called it lunch. They and MH say dinner. Supposedly that's part of the defintion of dinner, but I'm more interested in your answers than a dictionary LOL.
I call it lunch, Grandpa calls it dinner (confusing if you're inviting him over for the evening meal instead). Isn't brunch typically in between breakfast and lunch and you eat breakfast food?
Personally, I say lunch, but to my father, the noon meal on Sundays is Sunday dinner. Every other midday meal is lunch. We use dinner/supper interchangeably, but probably mostly say supper. Upper Midwest here.
We were discussing meal names one day and decided that brunch is the combination of breakfast and lunch and dinner the the combination of lunch and supper. So 5-7 is breakfast, 8-10 is brunch, 11-1 is lunch, 2-4 is dinner, and 5-7 is supper, unless you're a hobbit and need to fit second breakfast in there too.
Brunch is a thing here, too. At that I'm between time where you could eat breakfast foods or lunch food. 10-11ish +/- 30 min. like egg salad with pea shoots (ahem ovenrack)
We tend to eat breakfast very late on the weekends, and often do still call it breakfast, even if it's at noon. Probably because it's always breakfast food, not lunch food. That said, it drives me a little nuts that J will feed Nugget at 4 in the afternoon and I come home and he says she just had lunch. No, she didn't, at most 4pm is early dinner, way too late to be a late lunch.
