So I'm not sure if this should go in the SQS, but I thought it could also be it's own thread, and it's been slow, so here we go.
Over the weekend, DS all of a sudden decided that peeing in the potty is the bee's knees. He had started sitting on it last week after being resistant to wanting to even sit on it at all, but then wanted toilet paper. So H and I finally told him he had to pee or poo in the potty to get toilet paper. Lo and behold, he peed. And then Friday when I was home with him, he told me in the morning "pee pee" and yup, peed in the potty. He's not really told us out of the blue since that he had a need to go, it's more we ask him every hour or two, and often he'll say yes, go, and pee on the potty. We bought some pull-ups and he managed to keep his pull up dry basically from the time he would wake in the morning until his nap, and then from nap to bed during times when we were home. He will not poop on the potty. He did this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Everyone we've told has told us we need to run with this. BUT, we're obviously nowhere near ready to fully train him - I think. When we were out and about, he was more distracted, and just isn't at the point where going to the bathroom is a priority, and that's fine with me. I honestly thought we had another good six months at least before worrying really about any of this. So for right now, we're just kind of sticking with the asking him every hour or two and letting him pee on the potty if he expresses the need/interest.
So since I hadn't looked into potty training methods AT ALL yet - anyone else doing anything yet with the potty? Have a plan for later? Reading this and thinking I'm setting my kid up for total failure later when it's time to get serious and start using underwear, etc? Give me all your potty wisdom.
