How old is LO? 5 1/2 months

How is breastfeeding going? n/a

How is pumping/work (if you are back to work)? Pumping is going fine. I keep hoping somehow my supply will increase now that I am back to work.

Any short and/or long-term breastfeeding goals? Any goal updates? My goal is to get to the end of May. I really want to go until her first birthday but we will see with such low supply if it makes sense.

How are nights? Not too bad trying to get her to sleep in her crib is hard.

Any teeth/signs of teething? Yes she is teething, she shows all of the signs but I see no teeth popping through just yet.

Questions/AW/Rant? None really

GTKY: What is your favorite dessert? Cake almost any kind of cake, as long as there is frosting on it.

How old is LO? 14 weeks

How is breastfeeding going? Good. I got a blister/blocked duct last week but it seems to have resolved itself

How is pumping/work (if you are back to work)? Good, per usual

Any short and/or long-term breastfeeding goals? Any goal updates? 6 months is the goal, still trying to get her to take a bottle once a day.

How are nights? Ok, we might be edging towards the 4 month regression. She's been an amazing sleeper so anything other than normal seems rough to us, lol.

Any teeth/signs of teething? Not yet.

Questions/AW/Rant? We've been having gas issues of late. She's always been gassy, but it seems like more now. Can mom's diet suddenly impact them like this? I haven't changed anything and I've had dairy/chocolate/etc since she was born.

GTKY: What is your favorite dessert? Dh's snickerdoodles. Yum!

@cahhistoryteacher my pedi told me eating anything spicy or any gassy vegetables, brussel sprouts, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower etc. 4 hours before a feed can make them gassy. Have you been eating any of that in your diet? That might contribute to the gas. I found gripe water worked better than gas drops!

No to the gassy vegetables, some spicy but nothing too spicy(mild salsa which I have frequently). Dh just came home feeling yucky, I'm wondering if we've passed something around.

Annoying and disruptive, but manageable.

I'd like to repeat what we did for DD, which was: pumping at work until WCM introduction at 12months, nursing morning/bedtime through 13 months, nursing bedtime through 14 months before weaning.

How are nights?
Surprisingly better since B started daycare. We're getting a good stretch at the beginning and one motn wakeup somewhere between 2-4am.

Any teeth/signs of teething?
Not yet. I'm not ready for teething lol!

I'm in a bit of a weird situation with late afternoon supply. B has been getting 4 bottles at daycare and I only pump 3x at work. His last bottle is right around when I pick him up. If he's had the bottle, I'm nice and full at bedtime and he goes right down. If I nurse him, I'm less full at bedtime and it takes him much longer to go down. Oz-wise, I'm still up on him because I pump the side he doesn't take in the motn and morning sessions. Part of me is just sorta "meh" about the situation because as he gets older I'm sure he'll get down to 3 bottles at daycare anyway. But on the weekends I'm wondering whether I'll have to resort to giving him an extra bottle... I guess this isn't really a question, more of a dear diary post that will probably only be relevant for a few weeks (lol), but it was on my mind.

Haven't checked in here in a while. Jumping back in!

DD2 is 3 months today!

BF is going so smoothly right now (except for DD being a happy spitter)

Started back at work on Friday. I'm doing a good job of protecting my pumping schedule. During the day, I'm managing to pump what DD is taking at daycare, plus one extra bottle. On the nights DD sleeps through, I pump another bottle. BFing and pumping are going so much better than they did at the start with DD1.

Goal in general is providing BM through 1 year. Long-term goal is nursing until DD self weans. I did that with DD1 and we nursed until she was almost 2, and I was halfway through this pregnancy.

She sleeps 8-6, give or take. Half the time she sleeps through, half the time she wakes up once.

No teething yet.

Dessert - I LOVE cheesecake (white chocolate raspberry, or chocolate peanut butter, or mocha). I'm into ice cream, too.

How is breastfeeding going? When I'm home with him it's all good. It's the pumping that is an issue.

I pump twice a day. I've done this since I returned to work in March. I was able to provide 3 bottles 3 oz each. Lately though I was trying to get up to 4 oz for each bottle. And it was going ok until I got the stomach bug a few weeks ago. This week I barely get 9 oz during work. And then pump again in the evening to try to get to 12. No pumping MOTN. He wakes up 2-3 times a night so I'm not staying up any longer than necessary. The goal has always been 6 months exclusively breast milk. But I've already introduced formula since I couldn't get enough for DC. He's had like 3 bottles so far. 

DC asked for more milk since he seems hungry.  My plan is to only pump twice at work, get whatever I can (cont trying to get that supply up) and tell DC to supplement with a bottle of formula.

QUESTION: How much should he be eating at DC? I heard that formula fed babies drink more than breast fed babies. Since he'll have both I'm trying to figure out how much he should have. SHould I provide 2 bags of 5 oz breast milk and then he can have a 3rd bottle of formula of 5 oz too? He's a chunky baby weighing in at 17 lbs, don't want to be overfeeding him if that's possible.  

GTKY: What is your favorite dessert? Ultimate favorit dessert is the strawberry shortcake from Cheesecake. Biscuit, ice cream, strawberries, and whip cream...YUM.

littlelion, for breastmilk, babies should have between 1 and 1.25 oz of milk per hour (so between 24 and 30 oz per day). What you should send to day care is between 1 and 1.25 oz er hour between nursing sessions. For me, I nurse at about 6am and not again until 6pm, so I send 15 oz to DC (five 3-oz bottles - she's fed at 8, 10, noon, 2, 4).

Per Johns Hopkins website, forumla servings should be 6 to 7 oz, 5 or 6 times a day, which is closer to 1.5oz per hour.

How long are you away from the babe?

How long are you away from the babe?

He's there 7:30-5:30, 10 hrs. That would mean he should be getting about 12 oz. But DC says he needs more.
