LH surge after miscarriage? (TW)

Hey ladies -- hoping someone might be able to weigh in with experience/science.

I had a mmc in March (baby stopped developing at 5w6d, we discovered it at 8w2d). After the bleeding stopped, I did what I could to watch hcg dropping by using FRER hpts. They've been stark white negative since about a week ago. 

I started using OPKs once the hpts were negative (so I wouldn't get a false result). Before the loss, I always had a really short LH surge (12 hours or less -- if I didn't test at least twice a day I would miss it), but this cycle I've had two straight days of clear positives, and my CM/cervical position checks don't indicate I'm fertile right now. WTF. (I'm temping, too, but no temp shift detected yet.)

Can anyone share their experience with LH surge in their first cycle after miscarriage? Was it longer than usual for you? Did you get a surge without ovulating, or multiple surges before you confirmed finally ovulating? Did your secondary signs match up with what the OPKs said?

I'm just feeling very frustrated, because of course things are going to be wacky after a loss, but it'd be nice to have SOME idea what to expect.

I'm sorry for your loss. After a pregnancy, even if it results in a loss, your cycle can change. Sometimes it will go back to what you're used to after a few cycles, but often times it'll just be your new normal. And sometimes cycles are just random and weird and it may have nothing at all to do with your loss. Only time will tell.

I would just keep doing what you're doing. Keep using the OPKs and temping. Good luck.

Anecdotal, but my cycle after my loss was so strange. My OPKs were all over the place, didn't really match my temp shift, and I potentially had a very short LP. All in all a mess. But it did go back to normal the cycle after that.

So sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Ditto to the advice @led gave.  Keep on keeping on.  Bodies are assholes and do weirdass crap after a loss.  Things can change between EACH pregnancy, even if they never have before, no matter how long you were pregnant.  I'm coming out of a MMC/D&C myself, but I have a history of not ovulating or turning OPKs, so I haven't gone back to them yet.

I'd just trust the other signs in your body over the OPKs.  If your CP/CM/BBT indicate you haven't/aren't gearing up to O, then I would assume the OPKs are lying to you.  If you're TTC now, then I wouldn't see the harm in having sex now.  If you're avoiding, I'd use a backup method as a just-in-case measure.

Sorry for the post and run -- I wasn't able to get back here yesterday.

Thank you all for replying with kind words and support. I appreciate the practical advice, and will indeed keep on keepin' on... maybe in retrospect things will start to make sense. I guess I need to work on just letting things go, for a while.

It's funny how there really aren't a lot of resources out there for this. It doesn't seem like there's been a ton of research about it, either... kind of disappointing for a big nerd like me.
