Maybe I should know this but baby brain. What does / did everyone do for work? Be as vague or specific as you like.
(I thought it would be fun to do some random get to know you threads to keep the board active, and get to know each other more now that's it's been a YEAR)

I used to be a software consultant, specialising in training and implementation for tourism type software.
It involved a lot of travel, which was awesome when I was young and single. Honestly I have no idea what to do if/when I go back to work. I feel like I'm not qualified for anything else. My degrees are in hospitality management and international business. So maybe something hospitality related?

Regular GTKY threads are a great idea MissDemeanor.
Pretty sure most of you are aware that I am a teacher. I teach 8th grade English. I never planned on being a teacher and neither of my two degrees are in education. I just wasn't sure what else to do after graduate school (to be honest). Now I am super passionate about education and hope to eventually leave the classroom but remain in the ed. field (maybe as an administrator or designing curriculum, maybe working on policy...)
I'm a project manager that runs clinical trials in the cardiovascular space for a large medical device company.
It's pretty rewarding work when you get to see/hear from patients whose quality of life is directly impacted by the device you worked to get on the market.

I used to be a retail manager, I started in college and worked my way up. When I left the retail world I was a store manager for crazy 8, part of the Gymboree company. When we moved to Florida I went into retail banking but left to stay home when dd was 6 months old.

I work at a car dealership managing their loaner fleet. I have a double BS in Equine Studies; one in training and one in business management. Guess I ended up working with some form of horsepower....
I mostly SAH now but I used to do freelance work as a lifestyle writer/web copy and event planning. I worked in retail on the side and still do that for a local boutique. I think in the future I'd like to get back into writing.
I'm a research scientist in biotech working on discovery and early clinical development of new cancer medicines. I mostly manage lab scientists (not in the lab myself anymore) and projects and deal with BS politics at senior levels. But 80% of the time I really enjoy my job still. Must remember that as it gets closer to going back!

I have my masters in Marketing, but never really put it to use. Instead, I'm a financial analyst, managing a big ol' chunk of the IT budget for a big, international company.
I've been kinda mia lately but this is a fun thread... I'm a musician and now I work in sales for a musical instrument company. I have a masters in viola performance.

Wow ladies, we have lots of smartypants up in here!
I'm an attorney, but don't actually practice law. Instead I work for a large information company (both news and legal research related) in sales and account management. I work mainly with financial institutions, making sure they're not lending or investing money that comes from money laundering, terrorism or other types of financial crime. While the area is interesting, my actual job (retaining customers) is not. I'm so burned out on sales and want to do something else. I'm just not sure what...

Also thank you MissDemeanor for starting these threads! I feel like I know all of you but I've forgotten a lot of the intro things. Mind like a sieve these days.

+1 I was just trying to survive all that first trimester puking and barely remember replying to gtky threads but it's in my post history soooo I'm pleading baby brain.

I own my own business and operate my family's 57 year old business (hard to describe while being vague-ish, my mom inherited the facility and it's on old farm property. I pay her rent and run both companies). I get to deal with all the small business fun of scheduling full and part time employees, all the book keeping, keeping up with design of our website and print documents, answering phones, emails, and social media, and (slowly) digging out of a pretty large financial hole that mismanagement got the previous company into. I do love working for myself most of the time, but I sometimes wish I wasn't the person that had to deal with headaches and big decisions or problems and had someone above me.
I have a BFA with concentrations photography and graphic design. I had also gone back to school for mechanical engineering but took over the business before I finished.

pibblemom, though vague, your description sound SUPER similar to something similar to something a co-workers's daughter just interviewed to intern for...
