How much did you get back in taxes?(poll)
No need to post specific numbers in comments (unless you want to!) but I'd love to hear if/how you choose to owe/break even or to get a big refund!
Eta- this is all for fun, just to get a little action happening on the board! And for even more fun, does anyone have big plans for their refund this year?

We usually get a refund that has ranged in amount the past few years. I know that some people like to have less taken out of their checks and possibly owe come tax time but I like the no stress aspect of knowing we'll get a refund back!
We owe big time. But we own our own business and the profit from that is taken into consideration for our personal taxes as well. The downfall to having a profitable business.

I have heard that working for yourself sucks come tax time☹️ But yay for profit!
mrsmonogrammed, still in the researching/saving/planning stages. I know that the hernia will be covered by insurance, but the tummy tuck and boob portion will not be, so we're saving what we can.
Truthfully for years most of it kept going to my H's replacement teeth after getting a bunch knocked out in a hockey game. So last year was the first year we were like "okay what else can we start paying off?" Haha.

We owed for the first time this year Apparently with our move, the time of year we sold our old house (we got more at the sale because of prepaid property taxes than we thought we would), plus not paying really any property taxes on the new house (hasn't been assessed yet as having a house on it) = we owed a lot. But I guess it was kind of a wash since we had received a bigger check than anticipated from the house sale last summer? Either way, I'm happy my accountant told us next year we should be more in the break even/refund category again. Owing was a very unwelcome surprise.
Got a refund but we are both set ay work to withhold at the single rate with 0 exemptions and 0 deductions. If we werent set up like that we'd owe a lot.
No specific plans with the money although my car situation is less than ideal right now

Widget123 we are also set at single 0 at work. Some people say you're giving the government a "free loan" but I don't care because it's 1 less thing I have to be responsible for. Thanks for the fat refund check, IRS!
We got back a decent chunk and it all went to paying off H's car. So now we own both of our cars. Not as much fun as we've used it for in previous years but still a win.

Is it sad that I don't even remember how much we got back since we filed the beginning of February? I know some went to some car repairs, some went into our emergency fund that we had pulled some from, and the rest is still in our account.
tiffbot, did your husband have to get dental implants?
2 implants and a crown. All front teeth. It happened at a game where we were "seeing each other" but didn't officially call ourselves boyfriend and girlfriend until a week or two later so everyone knew I really loved him

We got back just under 1k. We are using it towards the new house we are building. DH claims 3 and I claim 2. We figured it so that we'd break even or get a smaller amount back when considering the tax breaks for the house, daycare and my school loan stuff.
We're getting over $3K back. We usually get a refund in the $3-4K range so it's what I expected. No special plans for it other than adding it to savings though.
We will owe some. Not sure how much yet because my h files as an independent contractor and we also have 2 rental properties so our taxes are complicated. We have to file our Canadian tax first and then file with the US last so we just asked for an extension to file our US taxes.
