When I was pregnant for DD2- I definitely missed turkey sandwiches with alfalfa sprouts. I'm still breastfeeding so Ahi is something I haven't had more than a a couple bites of in years and I miss it. My OB said no sushi and I told her she was crazy. My OB with DD2 said sushi was fine as long as I was cautious with mercury content and I definitely plan on following that advice with this pregnancy.

+1 for unlimited caffeine ... I drop to one cup of coffee when preggers/breastfeeding. I haven't missed wine yet ... I think I'm just too tired to even think about drinking.
There isn't much that my MW's office restricts. They are fine with deli meat (even unheated) and the only thing they suggest limiting are the big fish like shark and mackerel which I never eat anyway. Also unpasteurized dairy but I don't think you can even find those in the US.
Ugh- the coffee thing is killing me- I'm down to 1ish cup a day, but there are times I need a second just to get through the rest of the day. On Saturday we were at a big get together and everyone was drinking and I really wanted a beer. H isn't drinking right now because he's getting ready to climb Mt. Whitney in August and is trying to lose a little extra weight. It's definitely making the no drinking a bit easier.

I didn't have any sushi/ raw fish last pregnancy but it seems like more people aren't following that suggestion. My doctor said to just trust the source that it's fresh. It's my favorite so I would love not having to give it up!

+2 to wine and unlimited caffeine. Other than that, like others on here, I'm not too strict. I don't make my raw egg Caesar dressing but I definitely think sushi from a reputable source is fine. I can't think of anything else I avoid.
I make my coffee half caff so I can have 2 cups. Psychologically this pleases me.
Just caffeine so far here. It's not so much that I need it, just that it is in everything I like to drink and I have to think about how much I've had. Black coffee, iced tea, and diet coke were my life. I've been limiting it since IVF, so that has helped with the adjustment though.
I don't give up much while pregnant or breastfeeding. I eat turkey sandwiches all the time, I do heat it up first if I access to a microwave. I can take or leave coffee, so I don't feel like I'm missing out on it. But I do miss alcohol and have been craving a beer the last few days.
I didn't limit caffeine when I was BFing with my son, was I supposed to? I was so tired that I NEEDED it.
I didn't limit caffeine for BFing- in the very beginning (first weekish) I gradually increased to make sure she was tolerating it okay. She did have an intolerance to chocolate- it wasn't until she was about 8 or 9 months that I was able to eat it again. I also drank wine and beer (not excessively, but definitely drank a few nights a week.
I've been haunted by the idea of a summer cocktail, but I'm sure I can make a virgin something work.
When I was pregnant with DD2 we went on a week long cruise to the Caribbean. We also had the unlimited beverage package. It sucked. DD1 was even able to drink- she was 18 and while we were at sea and even in the other countries, she was old enough. Virgin Peach Daiquiris ended up being my go to.
mrspiatt my OB said 2 cups of coffee is fine. Some OBs say 200 mg and some say 300 mg.
+1 to OB saying 2 cups of coffee would be fine. FYI, you can also have two venti lattes at Starbucks - 2 shots of espresso = 150mg.
I clarified that she meant 2 normal-sized cups of coffee, which means 1 cup in my giant mugs. Womp womp. But I definitely make do with good decaf coffee, it tricks my brain reasonably well.
My go to is usually a Trenta Black Iced Coffee (unsweetened) 330 mg- so that's no longer an option. Definitely can't have 2, which is often something I do. Although 30 me over isn't too much right? lol
The only thing I really miss is Diet Coke - it was pretty much everything I drank and now I don't drink it at all. The chemicals in it freak me out so I just choose to refrain. In the second and third trimester, I'll have a Diet Coke if we are out to eat but that's about it.

I don't really miss anything yet. I'm sure I'll start to miss alcohol eventually! I miss liking coffee, I'd drink it if it tasted good, but it doesn't for me right now (my mom was the same way). I'll have an occasional latte, they seem to be yummy still.
I decided to not eat shellfish like oysters, mussels and clams though because they are just a higher risk for food poisoning in general. So I think I'd like my first meal after birth to be mussels, haha. I'll also skip raw fish sushi, but I don't think I'll really miss it.
I'm drinking an occasional pop or diet pop still, in the grand scheme of things it doesn't worry me.
The only thing I'm avoiding completely is alcohol, so that's what I miss. Especially with the weather warming up, I'm missing having a glass of wine or a cold beer on my deck.

blabbermouth I also have an aversion to coffee 😣 I can't even smell it without gagging. And I'm in love with my coffee so it's very sad.
Once my coffee aversion is gone I will be drinking 2-3 cups a day. I still drink pop. I'll eat sushi. I eat lunchmeat. I buy all my food from reputable places and in honesty, you can get sick from anything.

I miss alcohol ☹️ i miss things tasting normal but it's not as bad this time as last time so that's a plus. I don't limit much food. I'm all for a good Italian sub.
I love how pretty much everyone has very limited food restrictions! Typically I eat pretty healthy...Stay away from processed foods and drink only water. Since being pregnant I barely drink a bottle of water a day and I'm eating a ton of processed junk. It sucks. But I eat what I can get down.
Sometimes I wish I could just kick back and drink a beer. :-(
This. Last pregnancy I used to make H let me smell is beer when he ordered. We were living in TX towards the end and I actually found some decent NA beer at Kroger!
I will have one sip of DH's beer if I want to try it
I'm going out for chicken wings tonight... can I dip them in blue cheese dip? I need someone to say it's ok!!!

I was planning on dipping my boneless buffalo wings at lunch in bleu cheese, but Zaxby's did me wrong. Live for me!

Yep! I don't think there's any way a restaurant would be allowed to serve unpasteurized cheese/dressing.
