It is so nice to wake up in my own home! We scheduled dental work for our dog while we were gone, since he boards at the vet anyway. He had a couple teeth extracted so he's on soft food for the next two weeks. I made him eggs this morning, but I'll need to pick something up for him today. I was supposed to grab lunch with a friend, but she rescheduled to tomorrow, so I'll probably run out at lunch.
Good morning! Nothing terribly exciting over here except I had a huge fight with my parents last night - long story short even though we had set the date for W's birthday party, told everyone we wanted to come, apparently my dad missed that it's a big golf outing. So now I'm expected to change the date of my kid's birthday party to accommodate his golf. This isn't normal, right? The cherry on the cake is that even though I'm trying to move it (I texted my BFF to see if they can switch their daughter's party since our kids are five days apart in age, so she's now checking with HER family since they had already planned for the other Saturday), I got a text last night that it's fine, we can keep the party on the 17th - my dad just won't come. Seriously?? My kid finally slept last night, but I didn't because I'm so upset over all the drama that is spiraling from this. Like, I almost don't even want to have a stupid party anymore.
Hi! I am so excited for today. I am taking DS up to the city for a mom/son date day! We are going to Lego Batman. It will be his first time at the theatre!
H and DD are separately going to the city too because he wants to run some big errands and then take her somewhere fun too, but our times weren't going to line up great with the movie time and some other stuff I want to get done either. So we each get a special day!

Ugh jillywilly so annoying! My inlaws are gone for B's birthday and expect me to change the party date too. Sorry, if her party is that important to you, don't plan a 3 week vacation in June.

Hey lovely ladies! It's been a while!
I FINALLY found a job, and I go back to work May 1, so I'm just trying to get all the stuff done before then. Since I found a job, we are back on track with house buying, so that's exciting! Hope everyone is well!

Congrats! That must be a huge relief!
Such a relief! I am closing in on my last few weeks of unemployment.
Morning! tiffbot that's so awesome! Because of work schedules, we get only one "family" day a week when we are all together. We don't ever split off and I know that DS has missed out on some things because of that. He hasn't been to the theater either. I keep thinking one of these days we are going to just each take a kid and do something special but it hasn't happened yet. I bet you guys are going to have a blast!
So DS came home yesterday and said 2 kids threw up at school. Greaaaat. Please send me all the crossed fingers it skips over our household!

Yay!
I've been thinking about you lately. So happy for you!
Congrats beersandweirs! Was this the job you posted about on parenting? How did the negotiations go? Not sure if you updated that thread or not...guess I should go check.
Yes, it is that job. Negotiations went well and I ended up with a little more than I was hoping for. Plus they have a great raise structure.
We're on our way to PA/NYC for the next few days. V will be going to his first Mets game tomorrow night! My parents bought him a jersey last year that is a 12 mo size. I tried it on this morning and it still fits!
Sounds fun! How long are you going to be in NYC for?

I'm sorry jillywilly, I would be upset over that as well. I would talk to your mom and let her know it's important that they're there and that you've already tried to switch the day of his birthday party to accommodate your dad. Maybe they said your dad wouldn't have to come because they felt guilty that he was busy with his golf??
Is DW staying home now and thinking of going back to work?
No she's working. MIL was our childcare, but she fell and broke her ankle in February and she is still zero weight-bearing. We've been taking off of work and have had family help out because at this point, MIL needs someone with her to help her get food, let the therapists and nurses into the house, etc. So whoever is there with MIL watches DD for the day as well.
But this isn't a stable long-range option, obviously. So we are trying to figure out what will work best for us for long-term. We don't want MIL to pick back up watching DD because, well, we think she was using it as an excuse as to why she hasn't found a job. We need her to find a job so she can get her own place.
Kristykristyleelee, good luck with those decisions! I hope MIL is able to get a job soon and her own place. I can't imagine how stressful that must be.

Thanks, ladies. I'm sorry some of you also have to deal with crappy scheduling with family. I had a relatively good talk with my mom over lunch, and I'm sure things will work out one way or another, but ugh. I hate family stress. Especially since we just had what was actually a really nice family weekend with both sides of the family.
I worked the casino shift that DH had volunteered for last night since he's still restricted in what he's allowed to do. We were working the counting room which was kind of neat but the four hour wait between counts and brushing the snow and ice off my car at 3am to come home was less neat.
LO is at daycare so I got a good nap and we're going to put together his power wheels quad before he gets home so he's going to be super excited when he sees it!

Dropped off a bunch of stuff at our JBF sale today. I had originally signed up to drop off yesterday, but foolishly thought I would get a bunch more tagged if I switched to today instead. Nope. Also I foolishly thought J would be happy in a back carry with my phone while I put everything where it needed to go. Again, nope.
