Specifically, what do they do and do I need one?
We have OT and PT through EI. We have private ST that is focusing on feeding. We also have a vision teacher (TVI) that comes from the state school but is through EI. Unfortunately EI refers to her as a DT-TVI and counts her as a DT even though she is not.
I'm not entirely sure he needs a vision teacher, but I'm totally basing that on him having no trouble finding his toys. He has nystagmus so I do think he will at least need one when he is older and I'm not sure if I need to hold on to this one just for that.
Anyway, he had ST through EI and I just got rid of her because he made zero progress for the 5ish months he was with her and her lack of consistency made me think we were going nowhere. Mrsbuttinski's comment in the speech thread made me think more about the DT and wonder if I should push for one at our next quarterly eval. I know no one can tell me if I should give up the TVI but I welcome any input on how valuable a DT is.
