I thought labor could possibly be starting last night. I was having more frequent contractions that were kind of painful. Babies would probably be ok but pretty early if they came anytime soon. Hopefully 3 weeks left, but 4 would be better but I don't wanna I'm so done
The thing about vaginal vs c section is that it's still a toss of the dice. People have breezy stories for both and people have horror stories for both.

I had a lot more "real" contractions the second pregnancy at the end. With my first I only ever had BH. With my second, I had painful contractions. Still have never started labor on my own 😣
Last time, I still wasn't cleared to exercise at my 6 week appointment. At 8 weeks I got clearance, but I remember trying to go for a run after that and it was horrible. So I'm thinking a c-section recovery can't be much worse than what I went through that time. Of course there's a chance this delivery will be easier, but it's not looking likely. Maybe he'll stay breech and the decision will be made for me.
Either way you go, 39 weeks seems like a great time to have a baby. Maybe you'll go at 37 on your own and baby will ease right out. Have you talked to doc about things he can do during the vagina delivery to ease tearing (warm compresses, manual stretching, slow pushing, a mirror)?
I haven't talked to him about that. Another thing to consider along those lines is that the reason my first was so difficult was not because of his size, but because the doctor used forceps to get him out in a hurry. There's no telling what it would have been like if I had been able to push for 3 more hours and get him out on my own, especially if I tried some of those things. Theoretically, if none of the other complications happen, even if this baby is 9-10 pounds, I could have a vaginal delivery with much less trauma. My mom had 4 9-lb babies just fine. We just make big babies in my family.
Unfortunately there's no way to predict if we'll have the same issues with the umbilical cord being wrapped around the baby. But I think another part of my problem the first time is that I got a second dose on my epidural just before I started pushing, and I couldn't feel anything so I think the pushing was just not doing anything. I might be able to do better this time around.

I did some frantic googling one night last week when I was having a lot of BH contractions, and I read that BH can sometimes be painful and still nothing to worry about. As long as they aren't getting progressively closer together and increasing in intensity, it (probably) not real labor.

This is so true.
Yes. I think the thing that seems appealing about a CS right now is that it will be more predictable. If I try for vaginal, it might go smoothly, or it might be terrible and I'll be left thinking I should have done the CS. With a CS, I pretty much know how much recovery is going to suck. LOL I don't know. I just have a lot to think about.
Definitely not an easy decision JoBub. It would be tough for me to schedule a CS because of size with that kind of family history. BUT, scheduled CS recovery is totally different from ECS because cutting open a contracting uterus is so different. I'm just so impressed with how open your doctor has been.
Idk why but having to make any permanent birth control decisions freaks me out.
Not me. I never want to be pregnant again. Ever. I'm 33 and H is 37. We're done. Done, done, done. I don't even like newborns. I might consider fostering in the future if I ever get the itch again, but that would be it. And this may be a good choice for me because my insurance won't cover any BC, so an IUD will never be an option either. It's either BCP for the rest of my life, or H gets snipped.

He told me today that he once had a patient who was nearly in tears when she asked him for an induction. Her reasoning was that she had several children at home, and in previous years spring storms caused their driveway to wash away and they would be stuck in their home for weeks at a time. So totally valid reasons, but she was nervous to ask because he has this crunchy reputation. So he said he realized his reputation sort of works against him sometimes, so he just makes a point to put all the options out there to each patient. It's weird for me, because my instinct is to just trust whatever the doctor says, so when he says that, I'm thinking "are you saying you think I SHOULD have a CS?"

JoBub - Sorry about the rough appt. At least you did get some good news and have some good options on the table. If I were to get a scheduled C, I think I would def. tie my tubes.
Every birth is so different. You can't even really compare your own history because your body probably will not do the same thing twice.
True. Everything else has been nearly identical to my first pregnancy with this one, so it's really easy to assume it'll all be the same, but there's just no telling. And even if it's the same, the last time I went to 41 weeks, so delivering at 39 could make a big difference this time.
I think mominthemaking14 is rubbing off on me. I'm a total DIY-er, but we have a lawn crew here mowing right now. When we bought this house, we agreed we need a riding lawn mower because the yard is just too big to push mow all the time. But first we want to build a shed to put the rider, and it just hasn't happened yet so we agreed to hire someone until all that happens because it took H like 3+ hours to mow last weekend.
But even on a rider, it would still take him probably an hour each week to mow and then trim around all the edges and everything. And for the price of a riding mower, we could pay these guys to do it for like 2 years. One of them is on the back deck right now blowing off all the crap that has been falling from the tree, which pretty much makes him my new favorite person because I'm about to go out there and plant some stuff in pots and now I won't have to sweep today. So yeah, I don't think we're going to buy a riding lawn mower. You know how awesome it's going to be when I want something done in the yard and I can just pay the lawn guys to do it instead of nagging my H?

JoBub, did I just get a virtual high 5 from a DIY-er holy shit. I'm saving this lol.
I'm telling you best investment ever, that's how H got it -- took him 4 hours to do our entire yard , the right way and it would piss me off because it would essentially be an entire day because he would be so tired from doing it so I did my math and figured its cheaper in the long run for us to pay someone... hence the housekeeper. Less arguments on household stuff all around and its so nice to buy flowers and pay essentially $2 to have some plant it the right way and they dead head and trim my rose bushes for me and pull weeds.

Regarding CS/V my docs asked me if I wanted to try this time and I quickly signed up for a CS -- like I literally already have the date and time confirmed with Good Sam.
I know each experience is different, I just know what to expect and had a decent experience last time, I was totally freaked out and ashamed last time but this time I'm just praying for a nice LD nurse and good drug man to get me through.
JoBub, I'm with you on being done like zero chance -- I can't get my tubs tied so H is getting the snip once we hit the deductible and he can't freaking wait lol. We always knew two was the max and may adopt one day if we feel the need to grow.

More of you will join the dark side soon lol.
I'm still having a hard time pulling the trigger on a housekeeper. The lawn was going to require a big upfront purchase to get a riding lawn mower, so it's easier to justify. I've been thinking about starting to stash money aside for 6 months of housecleaning after baby is born or something, but I think even if I saved money just for that purpose, it will be hard for me to spend it on that when the time comes. I'm just cheap. Also because I don't mind the mess that much. I let the house get dirty and then binge clean on a weekend. But our master shower has glass walls, and that alone is about to push me over the edge.

JoBub totally get it. I just hated taking free time to clean and I hate a mess. Plus I would spend half my Saturday bitching at H to vacuum or dust something and then I did my math and it was a simple discussion
I would love a lawn guy. It's 2 hours every week all summer to mow. I used to make him do it after bed but now he claims it wakes up DS1. We need to pay someone. It's just not feasible to do it ourselves this summer.

Is he the type of guy that enjoys doing it himself? H and I are talking about some sort of combo. Like have them come every week while it's rainy and growing fast in the spring, and then when it dries out in the summer they can come every 2 weeks, and H can do just the front with the push mower on the off weeks or something. Or maybe this year we have them do it all the time, and then next year when we don't have a newborn, H can do more and they can come less often.

Oh yea. I'm sure mowing the yard for two hours on a nice day beats wrangling kids any day.
So, on the topic of CS/V birth I never filled you all in after my pre-conception appt last week. As early as it is to consider, I just wanted to see where my OB stood on VBAC vs RCS so I could start mentally preparing. I was super surprised. We went over my first birth together and as soon as that was done she said "I think you should go for it (VBAC)." I told her I was trying to keep an open mind and that I wasn't even sure if I wanted to try or do RCS and she said it would be my decision and I could change my mind at any time and do the RCS. I was just so surprised because of my hospital's reputation and something she said right after his birth. We'll see what happens and how well future baby cooperates, but it would keep more options open for having a larger family like I wanted.

That's great news! It's definitely important to keep an open mind. My mindset about delivery has done a complete 180 since I got pregnant with this one. But it's so good to know your doctor is supportive no matter what you decide. Yay for empowerment.

mominthemaking14 you know I'm onboard for all the outsourcing! I had a gtg with the neighborhood mom's, they all sah and do everything including cutting the grass. I've never touched a lawn mower and don't plan to! I've got the cleaners, lawn mowing and landscaping, and now food delivery, one day I'll have time to do more myself. But for now, every little bit of help is worth it to me. I'm lucky I have the ability to do it.

Yes!! I forgot you outsource as well. Tell me about food delivery did I miss that? We do a chef twice a month and it's working so far.
