So, ladies…How are you doing? Please post an update including any news, thoughts or questions you may have.

NEWBIES: We are so sorry you find yourself here but are happy you have found us; welcome. Feel free to join in when you are ready! Also please check out our CAL blog which is filled with a wealth of information. Make sure to post an intro on the board, and add in an avatar and/or siggy when you can so we can recognize you more easily.

OP Note: I've felt really happy with the CAL board coming back to life over the last week.  Thanks everyone for playing!  Is there anything else we can get going that you'd like to see -- whether that's a new idea or a former practice that's gone by the wayside?

1. How are you? I'm really good today, much better than I was yesterday. I got to sleep in and H and I just got back from a pre-breakfast walk =)

I'm like Martha Stewart. I do a little bit of everything lol. I love baking especially!
H and I have an almost 10 year old Poodle mix named Oliver. He's a goof off, definitely doesn't act his age. And then I have now 4 guinea pigs (2 died recently) - Latte, Macchiato, Frappucino, and Cappucino.

Not much new going on with me. BUT, I got my waffle maker last night, so I'm excited for waffles for lunch today. Though I'm regretting eating all my strawberries and whipped cream over the weekend! Lol

Also, update on the neighbor girls chicks. The little one died and they gave one to their aunt, so only one left. HOWEVER, now they have a bunny, too! 😮

I'm ok. It's CD1 here which means 2017 is out and it's also been about a year of us trying. I think I'm going to give it one more cycle and then go back to the MD. TMI alert---just over a month ago I went to the MD for bleeding between cycles (never had this before TTC) and I had a pap and ultrasound and everything came back normal. I was wondering if it had something to do with my not getting pregnant but he doesn't seem to think so. At that time he mentioned trying Clomid for a few months and going from there---so this might be my next move.

I also feel like the longer getting pregnant takes the more my loss stings. I know I will never fully be over my loss and the grief comes and goes, but it's just really hard to keep doing this "hoping turns to disappointment" cycle month after month. I hope this makes sense...

2. What is your status? (TTC, TTA, etc.) TTC, probably going to the MD soon regarding next steps (see above)


3. Tell us something about yourself - Hobbies? Pets? Favorite TV show? Anything you'd like to share!

I have a pretty cute bichon-yorkie dog that is super high energy. I was going to attach a photo but have no idea how to do this from my laptop. Perhaps I'll try from my phone. (:

veronicamars Do not, under any circumstance, take clomid from your OB. They will not give you the proper testing beforehand or proper monitoring during. Once you've got a year of TTC, get a referral (if you need one for insurance) to see a reproductive endocrinologist (RE). Clomid is a dangerous drug. Don't risk your fertility taking it from an OB or before you have hormone testing, an HSG (to see if your tubes are clear), and your h has a sperm analysis (SA).

I was hoping someone with more knowledge would chime in.  I really appreciate your feedback!

HARD pass on this, please.  It is for your future.

Ditto to @led's comment -- once you hit one year of TTC, go to a RE.  OBs/MDs/PCPs do *NOT* have the specialty training required to get you pregnant and protect your fertility.  Clomid can actually ruin your fertility PERMANENTLY if not taken with proper monitoring.

Before you start taking Clomid, you should have a sperm analysis (SA) completed for your husband (to rule out male-factor infertility), hysterosalpingogram (HSG) completed to determine whether your Fallopian tubes are open, at the very, very least.  Optimally, you would also get your follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), lutenizing hormone (LH), progesterone (P4), estrogen (E2) tested.  Maybe even your thyroid hormones.

Once you do start a treatment cycle including Clomid, you want to have an ultrasound shortly after your period begins (CD2-5) to establish a baseline (number of follicles forming, whether there are any cysts, any other questionable formations in your ute or ovaries) AND another blood draw of E2 and FSH for baseline hormone levels.  You should also, at a minimum, have a monitoring appointment after you finish the medication (usually CD11ish) to check your response to the drug (how many follicles matured, what size are they, which side(s) are they on, uterus lining thickness, etc) to make sure that Clomid is a good match for you.

If not taken seriously, as most OBs/MDs/PCPs are prone to do, you can suffer from permanently thinned lining (increased difficulty of implantation), high-order multiples (triplets or more), ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS, which can land you in the hospital), and probably more things that aren't coming to mind immediately.  While you can hear about so many women taking Clomid with no issues whatsoever, it's not a risk I would encourage anyone to take because I want you to have a baby and I want you to be healthy.  It can get you to your goal, but really, really need to make sure it's not hurting you in other ways.

Yeah, no problem!  You are also absolutely welcome to lurk or join in on GKU or 3T/IF if you ever want to!  Those ladies are all an immense wealth of fertility and TTC information. :)

As some of you may remember, I had a difficult appointment with the rpl specialist last week. The other day I ran into my regular RE and we talked about my frustration. (I seriously love this doctor.) Overall I'm feeling better about our treatment plan. Now, just waiting to O so we can schedule the hysteroscopy.

I'm glad that your RE made you feel a bit better after last week's appointment.  Here's hoping your results are negative when they come in and you're able to move forward soon. <3

Listen, I almost took clomid from and aOB. Like seriously considers it. I've been there. Aid is a mindfuck.


And I almost allowed a quack RE to give me clomid without a SA. Don't think you're only one to have been there.

I also seriously, seriously considered taking Clomid without an HSG.  Very, very nearly did.  As much info and as much logic as there is to apply to the situation, the desperation is real.  And the hatred of having to spend the money.

But fertility first.  Always fertility first.

So apparently my last day of babysitting the most recent kid is on Friday. I've had him off and on for two years and every week day for the past 6 weeks.
I'm conflicted. I'm so tired.
And struggled to not get attached.
Last regular babysitting I did was for my godchildren when they and their mother were living in my house, if anyone around remembers that disaster. Well long story on that one, but I have not seen those kids, who i had known since the days they were born, since they moved on in a drama filled nasty ridiculousness. So. Much. Drama.
I won't speak on the specifics, but let's just say it screwed up my life a lot and now I don't even get to see those kids anymore and that still breaks my heart.
Anyway, so this kid I've been watching, I've been trying trying trying to not get attached. Today the dude says "I love you" $%#@! And I won't be watching him after Friday. Double $%#@!

Other than that, you ever have people in your life that you care so much about but they are horrible at communicating and generally are pretty flakey? So frustrating.

I ended up going on a bit of a cleaning binge today. We've been dealing with mice in our apartment on and off for a while now, and the last time I started picking through the stuff that we had thrown into our storage area, I found a dead mouse. So I finally got the supplies together, and decided to start tossing stuff, whole hog, out, since it was all covered in mouse poo. Well, I was looking into this bin and noticed that my favorite book was all torn up (I forgot it was there, thought it was on my book shelf, but that's another story...). Started digging into the bin, and uncovered a nest with 6 little baby mice in it, eek!
Took my soldering iron out, and sitting there was, what I assume was, mom. Handed the box to H who promptly took it outside and left them to the elements. I kinda feel bad because they're babies, but at the same time, I really just want to be rid of them...

Eep! Dealing with mice is awful. I hope you're finally rid of them!

menrandes so many *hugs* I don't get attached to people much but I'm so sorry you're in that position. I'm sure it hurts incredibly. Children are really good at worming their way in.
Also I do have a friend I completely love who is so flaky and hit or miss with communication. It's definitely frustrating.

@led, we have a couple of families in our cul-de-sac that always end up with new animals. It is normal to have chickens in our yard (not ours).
Some of the neighbors had some ducks for awhile....one of them did not like me and always chased me away. I was so scared one day that when one of my flip flops came off as I ran away, I just left it in their driveway. They would bite my toes. My DH thought I was exaggerating and that they just nibbled but no, they were really biting, which he finally found out one day the hard way!
