I liked 13 Reasons Why. IMO I think it shows people how their words and actions can negatively effect someone else.
It was pretty intense and I see so many of those tensions among my high school students. I cried, I was uncomfortable, especially thinking about those situations in terms of my own daughter. My husband and I talked a lot about it and on one hand I felt like it was a bit too graphic, but on the other hand, we need to stop painting rape as no big deal and I felt like it did a good job of showing how harmful and life-changing it truly is. Did you watch the episode after the last episode where the producers and characters talked about their goals for the show?

I hated 13 Reasons Why because I felt like it gave the message that if we were all nicer, people wouldn't commit suicide and that's not how depression works.
*i do agree that people should be nicer, but the whole revenge suicide/you'll be sorry when I'm gone and the whole blaming people for her death thing when most of it was just typical shitty high school stuff rubbed me the wrong way. I mean, if that's the case why not make a tape for her parents for being too busy with their store?
bshelly, I haven't. I'll have to watch it tonight. We binge watched the series and finished Tuesday night at like midnight so I couldn't stay up anymore.

I also think that instead of Bryce being this monster rapist they should have had Justin have sex with Jess so their could have been an actual discussion about consent. It felt very cartoonish to me.

All of this. I didn't watch the show but I hated the book so much. It was so cheap. Nothing about it rang true.
mrsbeachcat, ashiscute, I think the fact that it was very "typical high schoolish" was what rang true to me. I've watched young girls at our school be mocked, berated, and trashed b/c of situations similar to what was described here and they were devastated to the point of attempted suicide. I do agree that having Jess and Justin together would have opened up an entirely different conversation that would have been really beneficial.
Tan m&ms were my favorite. They should have gotten rid of orange or red.
I loved the tan ones as well. I am the only one with brown eyes in my immediate family. When I was little my dad told me I ate too many brown and tan m&m's and my eyes turned brown.

I haven't tried the new green ones - have to be better than lime. For me it's red, purple and the rest are given away or in the trash. I am not a fan of citrus flavored candy.

lovemyirishtwins, and @katechristine18, I can't with you. Sugar candy (runts, skittles, gobstoppers, jelly belly jellybeans, etc) > chocolate any day. Not saying I don't like chocolate but if I had the choice I would go with my sugary candy.
