We're getting busy at work, end of school is always crazy. I had to call a Mom yesterday to let her know her daughter's lunch box and cell phone were full of cockroaches. That was an awkward conversation.
DD1 and DH are at urgent Care because during nap time at daycare she told them she put her ponytail holder up her nose. It was one of those really small clear plastic ones. We can't see it with a light and she's not in pain, but she keeps sneezing and swears it's up there. We'll see what the doctor says. Never a dull moment.

sanibel21 Go to Cali!!! @kitchen So sorry your little is sick. But yay for snuggles? adouces06, I use Noom. It helped me drop 20 lbs over 18mo the last time I used it. fem Cockroaches?! Um. I'd be seriously considered about the condition she's living in at home...

Yeah we know the family pretty well. We asked if it's reportable to DHS but if the kids aren't at risk for injury or death there's nothing they can do about it. It is sad though.

Ladies... Since DH is picking up DS now from daycare, I only just sat down to read the daily notes she sends home.
IT SAYS HE CRAWLED TODAY.
That can't be possible right?! I know he likes tummy time at her place, but he hates it at home. And I am SO NOT READY.
That's impressive! My baby uses the weight of his head to try to fling himself in certain directions by rolling but not crawling! So sweet! Also- with my first daycare we had a rule- if big milestones were met- you don't tell the parents that they did it at daycare first! I need to remind his teachers of this as well. I want to think I'm the first one seeing food/ crawling/ rolling/ steps...
Hey y'all. Late check in, so this will be a post and run.
Today was supposed to be my day off, but I went in to work anyway. It's not as lame as it sounds-because of orientation and being off orientation early, I was going to be short quite a few hours this pay period. I'd rather pull from my PTO to cover it, so I came in and watched heart surgeries for a couple hours. Not a bad gig-get paid to watch cool stuff in the OR. I can't believe (and neither could the surgeons I work for) that I've done this for 10 years and have never actually watched a surgery. It's like the final piece to the puzzle-it ALL makes sense now! Anyway, I watched an aortic valve replacement and the end of a regular bypass graft surgery. Very, very cool.
I observed until about 1 and then left. Got outfits for the boys for this weekend's pics (and some stuff for me!) and then picked the boys up from daycare early. It was 82* here today! Whaaa??? We had breakfast for dinner (I solo parented-H was on call today) and then went for a walk. Both boys went down without issue, except DS1 coming out to pee and then to tell me he "forgot his phone and charger" (dafuq?) and that he needed to "txt my dad." I'm trying not to make a big deal out of it because I feel like he's obviously looking for attention, so I just say "Ok. Go txt your dad in your bedroom." He didn't come out again. Then I made lemon bars for daycare (it's Month of the Young Child and they always ask the families to bring goodies throughout the month to treat the teachers for all they do) and cut up cheese and crackers for a potluck for work tomorrow. Changed the laundry over from the washer to the dryer, unloaded and loaded the dishwasher, and made bottles for daycare tomorrow. Now I'm sitting in bed, exhausted. Work tomorrow and Friday and then I get 3 days off! Yaaasssss.
I will try to remember to take a pic tomorrow...but light blue shorts with a white button down for DS2 (there's a little bit of blue pattern on the shirt) and yellow shorts with a navy polo for DS1. I think it'll all look good together. Hopefully.
There is a baby in DD's room who was born September 30th and she is already pulling up on stuff trying to stand! Uh...what?!?! No!
DD2 was born in early may and was crawling/puling to stand by Christmas (so just after 7 months). She took her first steps just before 9 months. Babies can get mobile really early.
I know...some babies just seem to start so early. Both my boys walked before a year old but they were not early with crawling or pulling up (8-9 mos for both). I also have the whole sad attitude that I don't want DD to start this stuff yet because last baby and emotions.

britta watching the open heart surgery was the first thing we did when we started our heart rotation. That is crazy you have been taking care of them for so long without seeing it. It is neat the see them go on bypass. And with mine, it was with a super organized anesthesiologist who labeled his lines and made sure they were straight when the Pt was transferred to the bed from the table. Bc of him I forever judged all the anesthesia guys who showed up with a hot mess of lines.
vavavictoria I know 😩 When I started out on the step down unit over 10 years ago now it was supposed to be part of orientation, but my preceptors told the educators I was doing well, so I was off orientation early and straight to nights. It never worked out for me to come in because I worked 11-7 M-F. When I moved to ICU a year later, same thing was told to me and the same thing happened. Of course now I married to one of the guys who's operates so he's always told me to just ask one of the surgeons and I never have. Finally took advantage.
And I'm laughing at the lines thing. We have ONE anesthesiologist who labels his lines and keeps them nice and straight. But I have to admit-untangling lines is one of the things that brings me great satisfaction. 😂 Unless of course the patient is unstable and crumping-then I'm annoyed AF.
