I notice that B seems to have a lot of trouble wiping. Not that she can't do it, it just doesn't always seem complete. Like I've noticed some redness or sometimes what looks like a diaper rash down in those areas. The worst is when I have seen "skid marks" in her underwear!
I've tried explaining to her, constant reminders, "demos" (while I'm clothed, just showing the motion )- but she doesn't seem to get it.
It's made worse by the fact that at DC they have pretty much no potty help or guidance. They're just supposed to be independent in that regard. I know klongoria dealt w this too.
Anyone here have any tips or tricks? Especially girl moms! Especially if your kid is in DC too or preschool w no potty help.
Oh wow. Daycare helps C and we help him here. Otherwise there is no way he'd be clean! I feel like that's a lot to expect of a 3 year old.
Yes, I feel like it is too! Mh and I were discussing this and he was just like "well maybe she should just be able to handle this at this age." And I'm like no, I don't think so. She's only 3.

Way too much for a 3 year old, especially if they have very mushy soft poop. Gross description, sorry.
H does all her own wiping. Her problem was that she would go to the bathroom and not wipe at all. Then her area would get all red and irritated so I would have to put diaper cream on it before bed so it could sit. We have been working on her remembering to do it every time. She uses the kandoo wipes for poop, and when she poops it's formed so it doesn't usually make a mess anyways.

Thanks trtlcrzy, maybe I'll look into those wipes. When she is home, I usually just wipe her w a baby wipe. But it would be better if I let her start managing it since she is getting no help at DC.

I just posted in the daily about this. Didn't know there was a thread, but I wipe M, too. He always will call me to come wipe him when he poops. Not sure what help he gets at day care. I asked him tonight if he poops at school and he said 'No, I poop in the other school'. I have no idea what that means, so still not sure. I also tried to have him wipe himself after he pooped this evening, but I wasn't pleased with it and not sure if I was all that much help with guiding him.
Josie wipes herself, and when she pees, she repeats "front to the back" until she's ready to flush. She's a weird pooper. She wipes, but there's never anything on the toilet paper. (that's probably TMI, oh well.)

I feel a little better after going to the orientation. The teachers spoke on the potty training issue and they said to keep an extra set of clothes in their back packs. They do want them to be independent when it comes to the potty and they take many bathroom breaks throughout the day. All kids go before nap time, too. They said they are only supposed to be helping with buttons and zippers as needed, but it doesn't sound like they will just let kids soak in their bodily fluids until parents get there.
I'll work on wiping with M, but mostly hope he doesn't poop at school often. :/
