So what's everyone planning? I'm truing to decide on the craft I want to do with M this year. I'm thinking of this one
I'll do the same thing as lat year where I make one for MIL and one for myself.
I'm excited for our get together, I causally suggested meeting at a local park that has 3 really big picnic pavilions and a great playground. Everyone is in charge of their own meal and built in entertainment for the kids! I even got everyone to agree to have it after nap time!
I'm making garden stepping stones for the grandmas and myself. We are going to my moms the Friday before to celebrate with her. N will stay with my ILs the night before Mother's Day because that's when we are celebrating our anniversary. Then Mother's Day morning, we will brunch in SC so I can get my mimosa on.
i will buy my mom a pandora charm. that's it. that's all i do.
I told H a month ago I wanted a couple of nice pj sets for me. I would also like new gym clothes. I would also like to go out for breakfast than hit up the beach for the day.
i seriously have been too distracted with everything else life has thrown at me lately that the date has slipped. at least i have a week to buy something. And I don't even know if H is in town.
We don't do much, and this year we will do less. I got my mom THIS BAG to use on the plane back and forth to FL. She was using some stupid little tote from VS. I think we may try and get both families together to do brunch this Saturday. Next weekend is just going to be slammed- we are going to the Ringling Bros circus Saturday, and then I want to get a mani/pedi (with DD) on Sunday before we leave for DR the Monday after mothers day.
I need to figure out something for my mom. As for me, we usually go to the horse races but I know last year they didn't have their Mother's Day event so I'll have to look.
@janetheconquerer I just told H that we wee doing a combination mother's/father's day gift and getting a nice new shade tent with weights for the legs. It will make our porch so much nicer to have shade.
Not sure what I will have the kids do. Probably just a nice picture and frame. Though, the garden stone idea sounds great. Any chance I can do that at one of those color me mine places?!?
As for us, we will probably do a cook out with the parents and spend some time at HP if the weather is nice enough. No gifts because I am going away the following weekend with my mom sans H and kids. I am sure I will buy stuff for myself while we are away.

You buy the kit from a craft store and it should have pretty much everything you need in it.
I wish I had went with the craft store one or the pottery paint place... but I found a tutorial for a concrete one. Hopefully MH is not working Sunday so we can tackle it.

I have no idea what we'll do on actual Morher's day, but I think MH is getting me a certificate for a really cool cake baking class because he started asking me about "what was the cooking class you've talked about" the other day. He's either getting it for me for Mother's Day, or for my birthday in June. Either way, I'm excited because I'm a big fan of the pastry chef where the class is.
I'm doing a framed photo of P for my mom and MIL, and probably a baked good of some sort too, and something special from our 'hood.
I just had A do clay handprints for her Grandmama and granny and we'll send them with a card. We did them before when she was about 4 months old, it's a different experience with a 20 month old! I think they're supposed to be ornaments, but I don't think either will care.
We're not big holiday people ourselves, so probably won't do much/at all personally.
Oooh instead of waiting till next year, I think I'll do the garden stones as a thank you to the ILs for helping us move. They were seriously amazing and stayed 5 days to help unpack, do yard work, and help me deal with the contractors while H was at work.
I think one for each girl would be cute but H thinks we should just do one. I'm not sure I can fit 3 footprints and names on one though.
Excellent! I'm using disposable plant trays and they come in different sizes. One is 17inches maybe? Also, maybe you could do their first initial rather than whole name if you decide to put them all on one ?
So my bag of concrete only made 2 stones (and it was frustrating to say the least. You think we were chopping his toes off...) so I may make a bag like ampaints for MHs mom.
I'm doing bags for my mom, step mom, myself, and my sister. The plan is to do a simple handprint flower. And I painted a lilac picture for my mom as well. I'm going to stamp a quote on it but I'm not sure what yet. I also got my sister a memorial bracelet with the quote "I carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)" with two hearts to honor her as a mother as well (she had mentioned getting memorial tattoos). But after I ordered it I got nervous of her reaction (because when I told my mom she freaked out at me) so I told her about it and she said she didn't want it. I'm going to keep it in case she wants it in time. Haven't made any of the crafts yet except the lilac painting.
packmomma I still think that bracelet was so sweet for your sister. I hope Sunday isn't too hard for her ❤
Yeah my mom freaking out sucked but I didn't take my sister's rejection personally at all. I thought she wanted something to memorialize them because she had mentioned tattoos but the fact that right now she doesn't want to be reminded of it is completely fine. I'm going to hold onto it so if she ever does want something she can have it but I'm definitely not judging her wanting to remember or not remember. It is cool the quotes hidden on the inside though so if she did want it it wouldn't be an overt thing she would have to explain. I hope Sunday isn't too hard for her either. I'm kind of just letting her lead me in if she wants to talk about it or not and the bag from W just says "best aunt ever - love w" so it's not really a mother's day thing.
