Yesterday afternoon my parents came over while the kids were napping so my husband and I could run errands. We drove around used car lots and went grocery shopping. What a way to spend our time while we had babysitters.
We are busy this week. DS1 has swimming lessons tonight, we have a meeting with our financial advisor tomorrow night, and DH has a haircut Thursday. I haven't meal planned so hopefully we can scrounge enough food from the freezer and cupboard for the week. Last week we did frozen waffles and yogurt for dinner. I'm sure my kids wouldn't mind that again:)
@kitchen here's my advice if he won't take a bottle and you still want to go: save his food for the day until you're gone. Have someone thicken breast milk just enough w/food to easily spoon feed. If you feed him right before you go I bet that would be enough to get him through. How long would you be gone?
ETA: A coworker told me her 6 month old can already use a straw sippy cup, so you could try that.

He doesn't do purees, unfortunately. He thinks spitting the food out is fun, but certainly there's no way he'd get enough for me to leave from 4pm to 11pm (which is what I'd want to do Friday) and expect someone else to put him to bed. DH tried to put him to bed last week (the first time he refused the bottle) and there was quite a bit of screaming apparently. The nanny tried another bottle today and he of course rejected it. Stinker.
ETA: We've tried sippy cups and straw cups.
Shoot. All my commiseration on the bottle refusal!!
My 4 y/o is being the biggest a-hole right now--no listening, wont stay in bed, above and beyond his normal limit testing. Nothing is working. So frustrated because i cant figure out WTF is going on and what if anything me or DH did. On the plus side, i have taken many deep breaths and not lost my shit. Except on here--ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh }|~#}|#%<%>^!€*€#~~~#~
I'm so sad. On the way out of swimming lessons tonight DS1 said to my husband "look at that fat guy". Ugh. I honestly don't think he knew that was wrong and was just making an observation. Doesn't make me feel any better. I'm not embarrassed. Just sad. I'd never say anything like that to someone so I'm sad for them. And I can't think like an almost 4 year old so I'm obviously disappointed in him. DH explained to him that we only call people by their names and what he did was hurtful and made DS1 apologize to the man.
When I was tucking him in he said dad got mad at him but he couldn't tell me why. When I reminded him of the lesson he learned he told me the guy was silly because he was wearing brown church shoes. So not sure what, if anything, DS1 learned tonight. Wish he had commented in his shoes and not his size.
