Ya'll, DH has crossed over to the glitter dark side!

DH was telling me last night that he needs to find trashcans (woven basket style) for the restrooms at his work.  I suggested HomeGoods.  I just got a text message from him that he is there, along with a painting for little girls room that he found that he loves.

Here's the thing…it's painted in glitter.  

Now, I LOVE glitter.  I cannot get enough.  I consider it one of my favorite colors.  In fact, our wedding colors were cobalt blue, hot pink and silver glitter.  

DH, on the other hand, HATES glitter.  He bitches that it gets all over everything.  He hates it.  

So, needless to say, I was really surprised that he picked this painting out.  Here is how our conversation went:

DH: Do you like it?  I really do!
Me: It's super cute, but is that glitter I see?!
DH: Yes…I hate myself right now…but I can't help it.  I'm having a girl, and she needs some glitter in her life
Me: Don't fight it babe.  Just let it wash over you.  And yes, please get the painting
DH: I don't even know who I am anymore...

That is so cute!! I've been noticing my DH get excited over things for our baby girl too. He is the manliest of men, but he gets all mushy over baby clothes and onesies.

Your DH sounds like he's going to be a great daddy!

Awww! That is so sweet! It always makes me melt to see dads get on the same page with their daughters. Sometimes I wonder if my DH would act similarly if we were having a girl.... haha I'm not so sure he could handle it.

Daddy and daughter relationships are so sweet. My DH would be covered in glitter from our dd's outfits and just shrug. Pretty soon that will be your DH too!

I absolutely love when DH brings home girly stuff & gets excited picking out things for her nursery. He's a "manly man" so seeing him get all "soft" is awesome. I can't wait to see how he is with her!

Love it! My DH kept insisting that our little girl would not wear dresses, that she won't like them just because I do, and that he doesn't want her to be "a pansy who can't do anything because she's always in a stupid sparkly poof dress" (don't know where he got that concept, since the only little girl he's ever spent time with is our youngest niece, who wears a dress maybe twice a year). And I kept telling him that while she certainly won't wear dresses ALL the time, there are bound to be occasions when a cute dress is warranted. He got mad every time. So when we went to Babies R Us to register, we agreed that we could each pick out 3 articles of clothing to get her wardrobe started. We met back at the cart and I showed him my picks, all excited about it. He tried to kind of slide his in underneath some other stuff, and when I called him on it, he grudgingly produced this adorable pink and purple flowered sundress!!! A nice wifey probably would have just rolled with it, but I'll admit that I gloated for about an hour

I am still waiting for my DH to say or do anything that somehow resembles acknowledgement of a female child's imminent arrival. We already have a boy, so he's in rough-housing mode. As he was throwing DS around yesterday, I said "ya know, you will have to be a little more gentle on baby girl than you are with Ben..." He looked at me like I had 3 heads.

Little girls have a way with daddies. Makes them do all kinds of things they wouldn't normally do. Makes us mommies love them even more.

My husband asked me the other day if he could practice hair styles on me so he'd know what to do with our little girl's hair. Melted my heart right there!

He's also huge on Mario Brothers and bought her a pink and purple Yoshi as soon as we found out.

Watching my DH diaper one of DD's babies while wearing a sparkly necklace and a "fancy" hat was pretty much the apex of our marriage, I think

Daddies and daughters have such a special connection.

This is so sweet! We're having a boy, so I'm curious how DH would be if we were having a girl. Right now, he's all excited about what kind of sports LO will do someday, which still makes my heart warm to hear him talking about how he wants to teach him. Gah, I think it's so cool - especially as a FTM - to think about my hubby as a dad.
