Oh yeah and to do list.. Clean house. Register at hospital. Wash baby's clothes. Pack hosp bag for kid and I. Install car seat. Possibly buy a pack and play because those are my favorite.

mreve, marshian, with DD, I did the same thing, assuming she would be late. I had myself pretty much convinced that she would have to be evicted but she showed up 2 days before her due date!
With this guy, I'd like to have the same mindset, but at the same time I just can't fathom my body being able to hold on to him that long. It has been a much, much more uncomfortable pregnancy. Luckily for my psyche, my doctor also believes he will be here sooner rather than later, although at the end of the day it's still only a guess.
I am guessing baby will be a touch early and come the last weekend in May (due date 6/2). My midwife doesn't think this baby is going to be any bigger than her sister and thinks she may be a bit smaller so I am going with 7lb13oz.
My to-do list is still crazy despite finally making progress on it Finish the big-girl room Finish the nursery Pack Bag for DD1 Pack bag for me JIC Finish baby box for home birth Pick up tub Freeze Peanut butter kongs for the dogs Confirm the preauthorization went through for insurance Put 1st post-delivery meal order on fridge Buy new car since the only car we had that fit both car seats is totalled Clean infant car seat - install in new car that I now have to get Get rock and play, swing, baby box and infant tub down from attic and clean (I'm sure there is more but those are the main ones I can think of)
Baby will be here 6/5 unless I go earlier or my C-section gets moved. Dd was a 7 pounder and I assumed this baby would be the same, but everyine, even my Dr said my bump is all baby. So I'm guessing high 7 low 8 pound range.
To do list: Clean and I stall car seat Bring swing, bouncer, pack n play out. Freezer food Order pump Buy white noise machine I'm sure there's more, but that's what comes to mind.
I'm guessing baby will follow her big brother's lead and be late. We're hoping she is at least a week late (I was induced at 41w2d), but I am trying to be prepared for her to be on time or early. I'm guessing she will be right about 7 lbs.
I need to move the bassinet to our room. DS decided to climb out of the crib last night (without injury), so he is now moved to his big boy room and I can get the nursery set up for baby. Need to install the car seat and wash some of the clothes/blankets we got at my baby sprinkle this past weekend. Going to BRU tonight for a "completion event" to get extra discounts on anything we still need/want to buy.
hold on - you got your son moved to his big boy room that quickly and without issue?! tell me your secrets. we aren't moving DD1, and she hasn't made any attempts to escape her crib, but i need all the tips in my back pocket because i fear the transition!

Since DS was born at 39+6, I'm going to guess that this one will probably around 38/39 weeks, so end of May. DS was 8lbs 9oz, so I'd think it's safe to say ill probably have another 8 pounder.
As for to-do list, we got our loaner car yesterday so we can finally install the car seat base! We also were given a surprise shower last night, so I need to do thank you cards. Other than that, it's mainly cleaning and organizing around the house!

Weeellll.... We figured we had little choice to move him, and it just moved our timeline up (we'd planned to transition him this summer). TL/DR: two nights in, things are better, but it wasn't a cakewalk. The first night was no fun. Until I got home at 10, he was either climbing all over DH if DH was in the room, or crying loudly and knocking on his door asking to be let out. When I got home, he snuggled down for/with me in his big boy bed and I was able to extract myself after a while. He stayed asleep until 5, which is not an abnormal waking time. Last night we did all the bedtime routine in his big boy room and he was not happy (crying, calling for us, knocking on the door). 40 minutes after I left the room, he fell asleep on the floor in front of his door (we think, no camera in the room) for almost 4 hours before waking and wanting me, and fell asleep in his bed after DH read him a story and snuggled him for about an hour in his big boy bed. He then slept until 6 am, when DH got up (DS's door is right across the hall from ours).
trebletrouble13 well it sounds like progress! i'm so afraid of it. MIL keeps making comments about how surely DD1 will be in a bed soon and i'm like UMMMM. haha. her crib converts to a toddler bed, but she LOVES her crib and i'm not eager to shake things up if we don't have to! obviously if she starts trying to climb out we'll have to reassess.

@agm - I'm splitting this into separate posts because I tend to write novels. We have been doing naps in DS's big boy room/bed for a few weeks, but those have mostly been snuggle naps (laziness, need for my own nap, love of snuggles, lots of reasons). I have been able to extract myself most times and leave the room and he has continued to sleep another hour or more. What we tried to do: keep the bedtime routine consistent, just in the new room. Have as many things the same (stuffed animals, blankets, books, etc) the same so they feel like things are a little familiar. One article suggested starting bedtime a little earlier so that they have time to play/fuss/argue with you before they usually fall asleep. DS said he was done in the bath earlier than normal, but we didn't try for an early bedtime. DS is not currently able to open doors, but that day is not far away, so we will toddler-proof the door (knob cover thing). Another option is to put a baby gate in the doorway. Keep in mind that we are only two nights into this and my unicorn child may yet become a monster.

Exactly. If she is happy in there, no reason to move her if you don't need to do so. We didn't plan to move DS until we needed the crib for baby, but he decided he was done!

This. Don't do it unless you have to! Especially not around the time a new baby is in the picture. DS was in his crib till past age 3 and sometimes still asks if we can put the side back on.
leloyd, did you do a home birth with your daughter?
We didn't. We did a hospital birth with midwives. I actually wound up being induced a week early so a home birth wasn't possible.
Good luck with your home birth! How exciting! I've had 4, but prices went up and I can't afford it this time, sads. (I have really good insurance for a hosp birth apparently and there are no CNMs in my area)

I haven't really caught up on this thread, or many discussions for that matter. But, is anyone making their family get boosters? Is it the tDap? I got mine but I think last time I had DH get his. I randomly thought about that today. Anyone doing that?

H and I got ours. We also requested that our immediate family gets a booster as well since they are from out of town and will actually be staying at our house for a couple days when baby comes home.

We had our families get the booster of they hadn't already gotten it but we have no previous babies in either family so none of them had previously gotten it. DH got it a few years ago at his physical so he didn't get it again.

I should probably google it... I know DH must have gotten his exactly 3 years ago, not sure of when a booster is necessary.
Is that the only one? I have MMR in my head too for some reason

Tdap was the only one my OB mentioned. I had bloodwork to check for MMR immunity before pregnancy (due to IVF) but I think most women get it checked in early pregnancy. I don't think it's something others need to get boosters of.
I just got the tdap today. From what I read, pregnant women should get one with every pregnancy because the immunity extends to the baby. Our families got them 5 years ago so I read that they don't need new boosters yet. We had them all get it before DD was born.
Unfortunately this vaccine is less effective than most. There was a whooping cough breakout recently at our kids' preschool and everyone who got it had been vaccinated within the recent recommended window.

Correct. Tdap booster is the one they recommend, but I like people to be up to date on all their vaccines! 😄

This. My doctor said I needed it to pass it on to baby, but DH and family got it for DD 3 years ago so they are good for 7 more years.

Not sure why by I have an intense fear of whooping cough so your story of the outbreak despite vaccine scares me 😠guess I'll be asking doc about tdap booster for me. My last one was 5ish years ago.

There was an outbreak here from October through December. Schools were shut down and everyone was on high alert. I got my tDap shot early due to it. Luckily no one died but it was miserable around the city!

Thanks for the feedback. I am going to double check Tuesday, but don't want to have DH get if necessary.
And DS had a pedi appointment tomorrow so I'll ask. He probably gets it anyway.
I'm sure I'll be picking DS up at daycare with baby in tow. I've seen those curious toddlers flock to the infant carriers. Commence freak out over all the germs this little one will be exposed to in her first few months before she's fully vaccinated...
starsandshamrocks123 yes, this baby will be around two full-time preschoolers and their friends. I figured if any of the tdap immunity extends to the baby, he or she will definitely need it! Oh and if your DS is up to date on vaccines he will have had it.
