This is not POM related, I just need advice.
We are moving to a new area this summer. We decided to rent for a year and get to know the area, then buy in about a year. Unfortunately there are not a ton of rentals in the neighborhood we want. So here are the options:
1. 2 bedroom condo with a finished basement. The second bedroom is teeny tiny. There would be very little babyproofing needed. It is by far the cheapest option. It is big enough to make work for the year, but definitely not big enough to stay in long term. Available immediately.
2. 3 BR condo. The unit is on the 2nd floor which means carrying the babies up/down a flight of stairs every time we come in or out. Otherwise it checks most of the boxes. Available immediately.
3. 3 BR townhouse with a finished basement. The owners have already said they would consider selling it to us in a year or so if we are interested. They have offered to let us pick out colors for the new carpets & paint before we move in. If we decide not to buy, it is big enough that we could rent long term and not grow out of it. It is already childproofed. It is the most expensibe option (but within the range we can afford). The catch: it won't be available until late July, and our current lease ends early June, so that would mean dealing with a temporary living situation and having our stuff in storage for over a month. We are moving about an hour from my ILs so most likely we would stay with them and commute.
So, WWYD? If it was available now we would take Option 3 for sure, but is it worth the stress? We expect to have a lot of family visiting so we definitely need space for the babies + guests.
