TTMA court dates and temp orders

My attorney has finally got me a court date for next Wednesday! I'm both nervous and excited but I have zero clue as to what to expect...

apparently one of two things is going to happen:

1 - temp orders for child support

2 - (if he's signed the agreement)finalize the divorce

if anyone can give advice of how this goes or what I should do/wear, that would be great! the only time I've ever seen the inside of a courtroom is on TV so...

I don't know how much help I can be, since we did a collaborative divorce and did not need to go to court. We worked everything out with our team of lawyers, independent mediator and divorce coach, and then just filed papers according to a calendar.

Has your attorney spent a bit of time talking to you about what to expect? Just from talking to my other single parent friends locally, it sounds like the process can vary from county to county. If #1 happens, does that mean the divorce is not final and you still have details to work out?

Sending moral support. I know this can be nerve-wracking. This board has been quiet lately, but hopefully others will see your post and contribute their experiences.

hbrockman01, I have absolutely no advice since I have not gone through divorce but didn't want to just not answer. I hope that things go well for you, sending positive vibes your way.

I'd wear some business casual or business but only because it's court. Like nice dress pants, button up or blouse, and blazer or cardigan. Definitely have shoulders covered, and I'd most likely choose closed toe shoes. You want to present a pulled together person, I'd expect. Plus the one time I've had jury duty our courts have notes about no flip flops, jean shorts, etc so I figure if I need it dressing close to what a lawyer looks like would REALLY help my case.

I'd also think about what you'd like to see come out of it and how you'd say it so that you are prepared even if you don't have to speak.
