At 40w4d my little haleigh finally decided to arrive at 1:25am. I felt fine all day and went to bed around 10 only to wake up at 11 with really bad contractions that were 2-3 mins apart. So we made the decision to bring our DD with us as I didn't think we had time to find someone to watch her. Needless to say, I got to the hospital and had the urge to start pushing. 3 pushes later and Haleigh was born! Everything happened so fast I'm still trying to process it!
She weighed 7 lbs 5 Oz and was 22 inches long. Unfortunately do to the quickness in was not treated for my GBS so well be here for 48 hours.
Wow, that's super long (the baby, not the short birth). Congrats!
I had to stay the 48hrs even though I was able to get the two rounds of antibiotic. It was a rule from my hospital for anyone who is GBS+. But the pediatrician wasn't even aware when he came to check her out...
How was DD experience with it all? Im so afraid that I am going to find myself in that exact position, despite trying to plan otherwise for DD.
I think my screaming scared her so DH had to take her out of the room and he did an amazing job of distracting her while still being able to watch the birth. He brought her here after daycare today and at first she seemed really tentative and got scared when the nurse came in to check me but once she saw the nurse wasn't going to hurt me she calmed down a lot and start asking questions. She even sat right by the bassinet the whole time the nurse took the baby's vitals. So she doesn't seem too traumatized by it

That's reassuring to hear. We have things in place for DD, who is almost 7, but I always worry that I'll go into labor & it will be so quick that she's there. I'm not against having kiddo in the room, but I'm not pushing for it either. I don't want her to be traumatized. And she's incredibly protective & worried these days,....

Thank you again everyone! And yes it was really fast and completely unexpected. With my first I labored all day. With this LO I thought I had a lot more time! I was completely shocked when they checked me and told me to start pushing!
