I tried butter coffee this morning. I had heard so many great reviews on it. I had high hopes. Oh man, was I let down. The initial sip is awesome, but if you have an aversion to oil like I do (long story short, castor oil...lots of it), this will make you hurl. The taste is nice though. I would say try it. Just be prepared!

What is butter coffee?? I'm sure I could google but I've never even heard of that. Reminds me of a hot toddy for some reason, don't those have butter in them? Disregard my rambles if I'm not making any sense.
I've always heard it called bulletproof coffee. It's pretty tasty (kind of salty/creamy) but I usually have to put a tad of creamer in mine. I think it's kind of addicting. Unless, of course, you have an aversion.

I've never tried it, but a colleague of min swears by it. I have tried (and liked) coconut oil though!
I just can't fathom how a big ol blob of butter has health BENEFITS! I read some articles, it just seems like there hAve to be better ways - although I do have a weird thing about drinking my calories away...I pretty much just drink water, and stuff my belly with tasty food.

Please tell me your making an emulsion and not just putting a pat of butter in black coffee! Also, coconut oil is the bomb in coffee. I'll do half butter, half coconut.
The butter should be grass-fed, too - it's a much better taste
I haven't tried it either, but I love coffee, I hate butter (I love margarine) so ummm yeah... No health benefits for me and two things I shall not be combining.

I'm with you @amc25 ...granted, I'm one of those weirdos who doesn't like coffee to begin with, so the thought of adding some butter, too just makes me want to hurl haha

andindria The part about you hating butter sounds like a FFFC or UO! Oh well, more butter for me.....
I actually don't like the fact it has no taste.. I wouldn't mind it if it spread like margarine or even had taste lol

I think the difference between bulletproof coffee and butter coffee is that bulletproof coffee is a trademarked thing. Their recipe is using a highly concentrated oil product that has all these benefits, also using special coffee...
I tried it because I heard it gave longer lasting energy without a crash. Sounded good to me!
I'm a black coffee kinda gal, so it actually did ruin it for me a little. I like it strong with no creaminess, haha.
Oh, and shame on the butter haters! It does too have flavor! Butter on everything! Haha, I have never met one person who used as much butter as my Jewish mother-in-law. I think she would eat a stick of it if she felt like it, haha.

My husband and I did this for a few months, the one we did is called bulletproof coffee (coffee, grass fed butter and MCT oil). I'm not exactly sure how the chemistry of it works but basically it's supposed to boost your energy, metabolism and give mental clarity. It did work, it gave me a ton of energy and just felt good overall. At first I loved the taste, but in the end I got really sick of the underlying oily texture.

The oily texture is the 1 reason I can't do it. *gag*

Ugh, I love butter but this has always sounded so gross to me. I read about it on a fitness forum I used to post on. It's just one of these gimmicky health/fitness trend things (like paleo, no offense to anyone that's into that) - something about the saturated fat in the butter and the medium-chain triglycerides doing semi-magical sounding things to your energy and metabolism and brain function.
I don't buy it, but fat is filling so I can see how loading up your morning coffee with a glob of it could help you feel more full and give you an energy boost. I'll stick to milk in mine, though.
This sounds awful to me. I once accidentally put salt in tea. (Long story) it was so terrible! I can still taste it when I think about it. It scarred me from tea and I've only just started being able to handle tea again. Would hate to do this to coffee!
Ha!! My DH did this on our honeymoon. Got the salt and sugar mixed up. He likes a lot of sugar in his coffee too.. It was great entertainment for me. Not for him
DH has made this a few times. One of our really health conscious paleo friends told him about it so he tried it and likes it. According to our friend it's the best with organic coffee and expensive salt free organic butter. DH just used his starbucks k cup and butter we had on hand. I think it's gross though!

I can't get myself to try the bulletproof coffee. at all. it just doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. Whenever i hear of someone putting butter in their coffee i want to cringe! that's not where it goes!
