Tuesdays with Two Year Olds

Hey ladies!  Last Tuesday I'm home.  DH is home as well because he's taking his last month of paternity leave starting yesterday, but he still took E down to daycare today since she loves going so it's pretty quiet here.  I'm enjoying the quiet time but also missing her a little since it's the last day of my leave.  My MIL is arriving this afternoon, she's staying for a week to help DH out.  

E insisted on wearing her big girl underwear last night after dinner.  She successfully pooped on the potty then twice she started to pee and stopped herself to run and use the potty, at least her interest in using it is coming back but we're still not really pushing it.  I'm really not looking forward to having to take her to use the potty when we're out and about but I guess we won't stop her from wearing her undies around the house if she wants.

Thunder & lightning all around this morning but no rain yet. G and I hit the indoor pool instead. I tried to go to yoga this morning but I was 2 minutes late and the door was already locked. I'll probably go to the 430p class.

We went to the local arboretum today and it was awesome. Tuesdays are free admission days and o think we could spend a whole day roaming the grounds and not see it all. I am sure it will be a frequent stop for us, it's so close! Now it's nap time for DD and hopefully for sale soon so I can nap too.

dmorgendorffer good for E! It's good she's interested at all. Still not there with A. And quiet days are nice but I know what you mean about missing her!

aggiebug that's great. Gotta love free days! Wish ours had that.
kartish hope they feel better. N woke up with sniffles but I think it's possibly allergies.

Today I could have gone up to the Wisconsin lake house for the day to visit my Aunts who are there this week (family owned cottage) but N's second to last dance class was today. I didn't want her missing it since she loves it so much. Also N and I both woke up under the weather. I think it's allergies bc they've been bad here lately for my whole family. She has been acting okay after the morning so the sniffles seems to be coming and going. My eyes are red/sensitive and I have a headache. Resting for the rest of the day. Meal planning and some laundry too.

I have a corned beef cooking in the slow cooker and I can't wait to have it! Smells sooo good! DH will be late at work for a function so just us girls for the night. It's okay. A napped today so they should be fine for bed time!

H apologized for his behaviour about my on call, after he got called by work himself on Sunday night. His brother was in town to play a show last night so H went to that and I stayed home with DS. He had to go out of town for the day for work and won't be back until late tonight.

DS was driving me crazy playing with his alligator tub mat this morning when I was trying to get him sunscreened and dressed for school after H left for the airport; I felt so bad when he started crying over me manly taking the mat away. We were running late and I've been struggling to get him focused in the morning on getting ready. Hopefully tonight is better.

DS has had one successful potty attempt, mainly because H put him on the toilet when he was about to pre in the tub. Getting a prize for going made him happy so he's been intermittently trying because he gets a sticker for trying. Hope this bodes well for our Labor Day potty training fest.

seamonster the half second toddler attention span is killer these days, especially when trying to get ready to go anywhere. Glad your H apologized!

Hi guys! Glad to see what everyone is up to. I think about you all often!

We're hanging in there, but things have been hard. C has really bad reflux and several suspected foot intolerances, and will very likely need a helmet (which is the least of my concerns at this point). Life has been a blur of holding baby literally 23 hours a day, screaming fits, dr appts, and no sleep. She has a lip tie, and we think also a tongue tie that the first ENT we saw missed, and are waiting for an appt to get those revised. I'm so hopeful that it will help with some of the other stuff. She was growing and gaining beautifully, but has been fighting eating because she's in pain, and she lost weight between 6 and 9 weeks. If we can just get her comfortable, everything will feel more manageable.

agm04 i was actually going to batsignal you bc i missed hearing from you! My sister has been going through some similar tough times with her son. He is now (at 4mo old) finally on an acid reflux medication and gaining weight from not constantly throwing/spitting up. Poor C! I hope things start to work themselves out in time! At least those are all 'fixable' things and they should get better eventually or with your help. Sending you hugs through the interwebs!

I would not be afraid to supplement with an ounce here and there if you're having really marathon nursing sessions (like 45 minutes or more) and lots of screaming. That's what I had to do with DS because of the ties (he did wean off the supplementation after the revision). And I found that probiotics helped some with the reflux, at least some of the belly pain and resulting overeating (and subsequent vomiting).

But the revision was total night and day. And when you get it done, do the exercises after nursing.

She's actually a really fast and shockingly efficient eater when she latches. Like 2-15 mins. But getting her to eat is really hard when her tummy is bothering her. We are doing hypoallergenic probiotics, started relatively recently, and I'm hoping those help.

When did you start doing the exercises? They told us 24 hours after but I'm nervous that's too long. How long was he in pain? C is totally inconsolable and has been all day, even with Tylenol. Thank you for the tips!

I started the next day. They told me to start the next morning (we had an afternoon appointment). I don't think the Tylenol helped much to be honest. But the next day he seemed ok except for when we did the exercises. Lots of snuggles help.
