Countdown to the holidays has begun in my house. We started listening to the cinnamon bear last night. A tradition in my house growing up that I'm trying out for V. He only asked to turn it off four times...so success?
Bonus question: favorite holiday traditions you want to/ already have started passing down in your family?
One tradition is St Nick on December 6th. We put out stockings the night before and St. Nick put little treats in it. This year since daddy will be out of town, we are praying for St. Nick to come early (aka tonignt!) so daddy can join in the fun.
Today we did some shopping for a little girl we picked from an angel giving tree at H's work. I'm hoping this will teach the girls the spirit of giving and that there are those that are less fortunate then them. He picked a 2 year old girl so they can understand the things she'd like.
aggiebug it was a radio play about two kids who are searching for their star that goes in the top of their Christmas tree, that was stolen by the crazy quilt dragon and then to Maybeland. It was a serial that was aired from the end of November to Christmas eve. We had the play on tape and would listen to each episode before bed when I was young. You can find it on YouTube.
Morning. Woke up this morning with a bit of a head cold. Biggest bummer is I couldn't breathe through my nose last night so I didn't sleep well at all. But the good news is I can take the good drugs for the first time in 3.5 years soooo NyQuil it is tonight!
I am spiraling on the idea of a nice doll for DD this year. She is really in to carrying around my nice doll, putting her to bed, caring for her. She woke up today an said Dolly was in trouble for sleeping on her pillow last night . I don't mind her playing with mine but they are weird sizes so finding accessories is going to be tricky I think.
It's the annual candle day at b&bw! So fun but unfortunately they went up in price again this year so even with a coupon they don't come out to the best deal that I've been able to get (like during the semi annual sale). My mini haul:
aggiebug within the last week or so A has been really into dolls and it is so cute! What brand are you thinking? I know costco has the American girl Kit right now but I'm thinking that seems like a little old for their age, right? I used to want on of those so bad as a kid though so it's tempting haha. This year the girls are getting the disney dolls from their aunt that are like Barbie size. I think they'll like those!
dreemkin I don't know what to get. I have some nice dolls from my childhood that she loooooves. They are like American girl but different brand, I think AG really hit it big just after I got mine. The problem, of sorts, with mine is the aren't 18" they are 20" and 16" so it will be difficult to find the fun accessories that are available now and that could make them her own.
As far as dolls go technically I think they suggest 7ish for the standard AG doll and 3-6 for their wellie wisher line which are smaller? And more durable? S is pretty great with my dolls so I am not sure if the wellie wisher is really worth it if she could possibly outgrow it sooner? Really I am ok with the Target brand too although maybe it would be worth the AG experience for the doll and just accessories from Target etc. (By experience I mean if she really got into it we could go to the AG store and have that experience, but only if it was an AG doll not a Target doll)
Dh finally got the new job he has been waiting on! Starts in the new year but his new boss basically pressured by his current boss to let him keep doing some work for the company to help them out. (They all know each other). I hope by doing this for them they will be more inclined to pay out his bonus.
Work's been crazy. We've been working on some cases which hit the media which is never a good thing. Now we're getting questioned from all sides. Either way we're plowing ahead...for now.
Last night V was not wanting to go to bed and kept getting out of bed. Finally I sat down with him in his room and I started singing a nursery rhyme and he joined in with me. And then he started singing our lullabies one after another, then when he ran out he stated singing Christmas carols. It was the sweetest moment.
Today it snowed up at work, and at home as well. V was trying to catch smoke on his tongue and A was mesmerized watching it fall.

St. Nick is coming by Dec 10 when H comes home. And we're taking some toys to Toys for Tots that day too.
Good luck with your H gone. DS really likes watching If you give a mouse a cookie on Amazon Prime. Guaranteed morning shower time for me while H is gone.
