Today was a normal day so far. Tonight is family movie night and I'm pushing for the sound of music! Do you think it's too old for an almost 5 and 3 year old? My sisters and I loved it as kids; we just skipped the nun part haha.
I went out last night for wings and beer for GNO. It ended up just being me and the girl that sets it up lol. It was fun but I always end up questioning/defending my parenting skills to myself the next couple days the more I think about our conversations. Background: She is super restrictive/sheltering to her boys. They don't leave the house...ever (she won't allow them missing naps). And she doesn't allow any media. And every time she brings it up I can't help but feel, not really judged, but like looked down on bc I DO allow edu shows and disney. She's quick to point out that she's "done the research". So today I'm feeling a bit funky about if we've done the best things for N and A.
I had a vinyl printed through Etsy and then a friend made the princess silhouettes. I really love how it's turning out. There are 4 princesses I don't know what to do with Rapunzel, Cinderella, Aurora and snow white- Europe is just so crowded.
Omg love it aggiebug what a cute idea. And yeah, it'd be hard to fit them all in. Maybe they can just go around the room randomly like by the light switch or near a lamp?
ETD: I always thought Ariel/Eric are supposed to be somewhere in Europe too

dreemkin sorry about the man flu - that is soooo irritating. Also, you’re a great mom. You’re never going to make exactly the same choices as some other Mom. You make the choices that are good & work for your family.

There’s a new brunch place in town! We’re heading that way as soon as G finishes this episode of Paw Patrol. Going to see a Christmas light display with my parents tonight!

The Little mermaid is written by Hans Christen Anderson who is from Denmark and is is definitely a beloved story there. The Disney version is supposed to take place in the Carribean so that and Europe being crowded we decided on the Carribean.

dreemkin her boys never go out ever or just around nap time? Nap time is important and we do a lo6t of planning around it, but I can't imagine never going out because of naps. We limit watching things on the phone or kindle here because DS's behavior can just be awful if he starts watching. He gets 30 minutes a day on the weekend and the occasional bit during the week if we're out. He does get more if one of us is solo parenting and that parent need a break or to do something without interruptions. But I can't imagine after 2 never letting tv parent for a break.
DS went to a birthday party for his teacher's 2 year old. She invited the class since he comes a couple times a week. Only 2 other kids from daycare showed up. But it was still fun. He slept on the way there, but not on the way back so at 4:45pm he was telling us it was bedtime. I still put him to bed the normal time.
seamonster she just never goes out period. I would go nuts. What do you do all day in that case?
And I guess every kid is different when it comes to the media thing. For me it kind of gives my kids a downtime since they don't nap. Because most of the time I need to be doing something out of the house with them or they get antsy. They want to always be on the go, which is why it's hard for me to imagine never leaving the house.

What reference did you get that from? I'm just curious because The Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney movie and while I know the location is dabated...bc it's probably mostly just a made up location (or a combination of a bunch of different influences), I've always heard it was styled after south France or the Mediterranean. Sebastian was originally written as an English character. Anyway, I'd like to read where you got your info from bc I'm a Little Mermaid freak haha. And the Caribbean thing kind of blew my little mind.
I'm sitting here watching coffe drip if that's any indication on how my morning is going so far, lol.
We had two family parties yesterday, then attempted to go shopping afterwards. Busy day! But kinda nice to get both parties over with in one fell swoop, and V had a blast running around and playing with quasi cousins.

Well this is the map we kept referencing. I have seen the Carribean referenced several times in different sources. I did see something about his Castle being inspired by a castle in Switzerland I think?

G woke up with a 102 fever ugh. Hopefully he’s getting it out of the way before Christmas. Apparently he woke up MOTN asking for saline spray. Then I went in there at 6am cause he drank all his water and wanted more. Then he went back to sleep until 9am. Poor kiddo.

Oh no! Hope he feels better before Christmas! I hear that going around near me.

dreemkin I would go nuts if I never left the house with my kid. I regularly take him to the library or the park or grocery shopping when he's being a pain, but I can keep him awake if he's tired and it's not naptime. Also Krogers/Frys/Smith's has free snacks.

Let me just say that my sister should consider me taking two of my nieces shoe shopping should be considered my gift to her. I did get some for myself though.
