I got to the Dr today and got some drugs to hopefully get this migraine under control. Just took them so 🤞🤞. It's cold and getting colder today, one of those days where the high was at 7am. We should get snow on Sunday. Crazy spring.
With that in mind we are meeting some friends at the local art museum for their Picasso exhibit, should be insane but warm.
aggiebug I hope the new meds help and soon! And have fun at the exhibit!
Today was dreary and rainy, but the evening dried up enough to let us go on a walk. It was nice. Tomorrow is supposed to be more of the same, but not let up till Sunday. Ugh.
Does anyone have a date night babysitter? If so how much do you pay for a few hours?
kartish we have a 14 year old neighbor who has watched our kiddos a few times we've paid her about $12/ hr. It seems to be high for here but we have 2 kids in diapers so it seems reasonable to us. It was pretty standard for NOVA area.
aggiebug glad you went to a doctor. Is it one you will stick with? Hope the meds work and quickly!
We've had some crazy weather here lately. There was actually snow on the ground yesterday but that's disappearing now. It is very cold - in the 20s. H is going to take the girls out tomorrow morning and I will get some alone time. N said she's going to miss me haha. It'll be for a few hours to home depot and story time at the library.
kartish sorry I am no help with your question. We only get family to watch the girls when needed. I'm lucky to have my sister near by wgo loves to get the chance to visit with them anyway.
Rain stopped about an hour ago, so it looks like moving day is still happening. Eek! Tonight should be the first night in the new house, weather permitting.
dreemkin enjoy your alone time! G tells me often out of the blue “Momma, I love you. But I don’t miss you when I’m babysitting.”
kartish sorry family only babysitters here too. I hope you find a great date night sitter!
Well I woke up and the headache is still lingering. So bummer. I am not horribly shocked, I know cycles can be difficult to break and they don't start with the super meds if that makes sense. So I will likely call and see what they say.
dreemkin I have an excellent first impression so at this point hope they will be our GPs, they even do pap smears etc so it might be my one stop shop.
So remember when I was telling you about the Pandora sale I participated in? Well I finally got those items in and rearranged my princess/fairytale bracelet because I decided to add the two pink Muranos (the glass charms) for my March fun money allotment. They are amazing. So much prettier in person then what they looked like online. These are actually called Aurora's signature color and they are from the official Disney line of Pandora. The fun thing about these and why I ultimately chose them as my pink glass ones are that they have an iridescent shimmer in them and wait for it... they glow in the dark! How cool is that? Only the Disney ones do that. I thought they looked beautiful and they ended up being the perfect color pink to match some pink CZs I have on other charms on this bracelet. Also Aurora is one of N's favorite princesses so what could be better? Here are 2 pictures I took today to share with you guys. I don't know if you are big jewelry fans but I am and so I wanted to share with you! The sunlight faded the richness and darkness of the pink quite a bit but I wanted to show you the shimmer (which is more dimensional in person too of course - a photo does not do that aspect enough justice). I can't wait to add more to this bracelet and complete it one day in the future - I still have a lot to go but its turning out to be a very special piece that I wear a lot.
ETA: okay the pics look waaay better and clearer on my phone. Sorry about that!
Last day of conference! My talk is this afternoon. I met a woman who is joining my group in August (didn't know we were getting a new person). Other than DS telling me every phone chat that I need to come home, it's been good. Lots of networking and having childfree time to watch tv at night. And without H complaining about not wanting to watch what I want. It's like traveling back to before I had a kid.
kartish mostly my family babysits for us, but before we moved here I used care.com to find a sitter. I let them set their rate -- I paid $10-$15 an hour for a sitter.
We survived the move! Other than my van not cranking after we loaded it full of stuff (battery issue) the day went smoothly. G even got a nap! We turned on our heater and.... nothing happened. But a quick visit from the company that cleaned the system last week & it’s working now.

Today H smoked a pork shoulder and we had pulled pork mmm! We invited over my local family bc it makes a lot. We watched the Cubs win! It was a fun time!
Guess what, my dove family is back and there are two eggs in the nest. I don't have high hopes for a good outcome though. There was already some kind of tussle as I saw many dove feathers on the ground. Also one of the eggs looks odd.
dreemkin that's a lovely bracelet! I love the pink!
We usually just have family watch the kids, but it rarely works out for an evening date. I talked to a friend who has a teenage daughter about watching the boys in the summertime, so I'm hoping we can work something out.
The talk went well. DS was extra clingy when I got home, but today he's riding bikes with Daddy. I rode my bike out to find them after cleaning up from dinner, but they rode off somewhere.
