It's only the 3rd day of kindergarten and we called N in sick. Her cold has progressed into a pretty nasty cough. Even H is staying home today because it's spreading around the house. I feel bad already keeping her home; she has bad luck with illness. Hopefully we are better tomorrow bc we were planning on going to my family's lake house for the day. I guess we'll have to play that by ear.
G’s first day of preschool! DH did drop off. He said the whole way there G said he didn’t want to go, but as soon as they got there was fine. They were a little early so got to play on the playground for a few minutes first. Two & a half hours til I pick him up!
Also he picked out his outfit last night & wouldn’t be dissuaded from stripes and plaid together. It was easier when he didn’t have his wardrobe memorized!
Had a fun night last night, went to dinner with my two best friends from high school. We ended up staying out way late but I'm not dragging too much this morning.
We went to the family lake house today in WI. It was a nice day! Got to see my dad's side of the family. My aunts took us out on their new boat. The girls did some fishimg too and caught a few blue gills. This week coming up is my parents' week there but with school started we won't be able to go.
Today we were going to do a fest with some friends but since we're not feeling 100% it's a rest day and getting ready for the week. N had her first homework assignment - an all about me bag so we did that. Now the girls are watching H play Zelda and I'm waiting for a pandora sale to start on Rue La La!
DH and I have caught summer colds, boys haven't shown any sign of it yet, I hope they miss the bug.
The boys are with MIL today trying out a new splash pad. She sent me some pictures, they look like they are having a blast.
dreemkin how do the girls react to fishing? V keeps telling us he wants to go fishing, but I think he would freak out if we actually killed the fish for eating, and might even if we catch and release.
kartish We always catch and release but they love it. Anna did not want anything to do with the worms (I don't blame her) but N was touching the worms, holding the fish, etc. I remember when I was little and we went to the lake house, we caught fish for a relative who ate them there and we were upset when we figured out what was happening. That and even killing the worms can be a little upsetting (we tried to gloss over that fact). My mom said the piece of the worm we ripped off grew back... I usually don't like lying but we went with it that day. Feel better!
Camping was....stressful. The girls had bad behaviour and terrible listening. Thankfully we only went for one night. We just never seemed to have enough time to get anything done. And I can only yell stop jumping on the air mattresses so many times before I lose my shit.
I was checking into places for sep but that won’t be happening now. We will wait until next year when they are a bit older. The girls never share a room together so that of course didn’t help bc they were screwing around for a long time at bedtime. I’m just exhausted. Can’t wait for work on Monday so I can get some rest lol

dreemkin J is still snotty but G and I are 85% better.
kartish G goes fishing with my dad on the regular. I haven’t been with them but he loves it. They use hot dogs or hard salami as bait. They catch & release - at most they’ll keep a fish in a bucket of water for a while so G can touch it and watch it, then back in the pond.
