What is the proper age to start using braces??

Hey there,
My daughter is studying in high schools, and she is 15 years old now. She hates to go to school as her friends bully her for having crooked teeth. She is currently going through a depression stage. I don't know what to do. When she came and told me about this first thing which came to my mind was using braces. But I don't know if this is the proper time for her to use braces. She also told me that she will not go to school if she uses braces. Are 6 months braces a good idea for the kids of my daughter's age? Please help me out!
