So after carrying DD around for the last month, I've noticed my wrists getting very sore. I'm remembering it was the same way with DS, and lasted until he had eight muscle control that I could hold him on my hip with a more natural hold. Anyone else have sore wrists? Anything you think I can do to strengthen them (is that even a thing)? Any better holds that I'm not thinking of that could reduce the strain?

This is probably a really common form of tendinitis called deQuervain's tenosynovitis. Some providers even call it 'new mothers' wrist' because we get it so much! You can try ice, Motrin, and a thumb spica splint at home. Try to modify how you're holding LO. If that doesn't help, Google PT/OT exercises or else see your PCP for a referral.
Yes mine are killing me! I can't even hold M's head while feeding anymore. I have to use receiving blankets to get it positioned right. Really hope it goes away soon. Sorry no advice
I had this last time and the cute for me was to stop putting lo in a rear facing car seat (we got one that you can load and then swivel) and to stop using my blackberry at work, and I started supporting lo with my hand more than my thumbs under his armpits. You can get a cortisone shot but I wanted to correct the behavior versus a temp fix. Oh and my cousin's wife is an acupuncturist and she did this thing where she felt my wrist and yanked on my thumb, she said I was out of alignment, but I would feel it pop back when I did a poor behavior, so I'd realign and changed what I did. It took about 2 weeks to heal once I ditched the blackberry and went on vacation :-)
