So is is possible something I ate has caused this issue? He is struggling to pop and is really gassy. This started yesterday. He had one big blow out diaper yesterday afternoon and seems better but was squirmy all nigbt and is not happy today. Crying when farting and straining to try to poo. I've heard mixed things on this... One person will say just normal newborn digestive system and another will say something I ate?? Just wondering if I need to consider foods? I hate seeing him like this.
How old? Weight gain ok or high or low? What does poo look like? High normal or low supply?
At certain ages and stages they start to go less often and may squirm around a but thinking about it in between poops. They also may decide that hey don't like the feel of really hot poop on their butts and experimenting with straightening heir legs to try to hold it in. Sometimes baby massage and bending their legs and pulling them up toward their stomach helps them go and some even like the diaper loosened a bit which is why they might poop all over rot as you take a Diaper off. It's hard to go poop without gravity
If you just had a growth spurt you may have a bit of oversupply going on that is causing extra gas. If you gorges on ice cream you could have a bit of intolerance going on. But one day of extra fussiness is more likely to be immature baby digestive stuff than direct result of your diet.

He is 7 weeks and gaining weight well. The poo diaper yesterday was slimy yellow..... And he does straighten his legs... I haven't had ice cream but have started eating almonds and spinach? I will loosen diaper and see if that helps. @amyg

I remember the 6 week growth spurt being followed so many gross diapers. I never put it together that the increased supply would mean more pooping but that totally makes sense. I gave up eating lots of raw onions because it seemed like it made her gassy but I could have easily made that up.
