Really Bad Cystitis (bladder infection) Advice

I have been dealing with a bladder infection for over a week now and was trying to cure it naturally, but that route is not working.  I am trying to avoid meds because I am in my TWW and don't want to compromise anything, but I just can't take the pain any longer.  I already called my MD and am waiting for a prescription.

My question: For those who have experienced a UTI/Cystitis, what helped you get some relief?  I have read baking soda mixed with water helps?  I am currently taking probiotics, eating Greek Yogurt, drinking 100% cranberry unsweetened mixed with tons of water and trying to avoid carbs/sugars.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!  This intense feeling of having to go pee every second literally is so horrible.

Sorry, no advice other than what you're already doing. I hope the meds help so you can feel better soon!

Also, I don't think any medicine would cause a problem at this point anyway. You don't share your blood with the baby (if you are pregnant) for awhile yet. At least I'm 99% sure that's the case.

I had to take antibiotics for strep when I was first pregnant and didn't know it. I just asked the doctor when I went for my appointment if I did any damage and she was pssshhhht, no, totally fine.
Take those meds girl. A raging infection is no fun!!!

Thanks so much! I just like to use Dr. Google too often and it says meds can cause birth defects, but usually unlikely. Peeing every 5 min. is getting frustrating.

Step away from the crazies on Dr Google. That is absolutely insane and not correct in the slightest.

No other advice but the dr could call in some pyridium to help with the pain.

Feel better! Ya don't google. It's better to take meds for a known infection even in the tww or while pregnant. A bladder infection could easily become a very serious kidney infection. I was antibiotics with both kids and they are A okay!

Cranberry juice and tons of water gave me relief when I had a string of UTIs in the past. IMO, I would get the meds ASAP. An infection that spreads to your kidneys would be potentially more harmful than antibiotics.

Also, I was on antibiotics for a UTI in one of my pregnancies (can't even remember which one now, they kind of blur together lol).

meow84, thanks for your reply! I am just freaking out now that I know there are some risks. I just wish I a. knew if I was pregnant and b. were at least past the 12 week mark. Ugh!
