Endless Reader, Endless Numbers, & Endless alphabet. The first two are free on iPad, you just pay for word/number sets. Endless Alphabet is free on Android (with only a few words), but seems to be $6.99 in Ipad with 50 words.
He also love his ABC Mouse app. (Yes we drank the kool aid)

PBS Kids Video. It's easy for her to navigate and she likes the shows. Disclosure: the only show on TV she's really seen and paid attention to is Sesame Street, and a few minutes of Super Why. But she likes the clips of other shows in the app.
I just wanted to recommend a counting/number app called Toddler Counting 123. (Icon is a rainbow caterpillar) We have it for the ipad and its pretty cool. I think the default goes up to 100!! I changed the setting to 5 to start off and now i switched it to 7. J can identify/say numbers 1-10 and can "count" to 5. By count i mean that if i say "one.... What comes next/what comes after one?" He will say 2 and so on up to 5.
There are a bunch of settings to play with to make it easier or harder. So if youre working on numbers id check it out.
It also helps them identify different objects as they count them.
Bumping this thread up because I am loading apps on my iPad for our upcoming road trip. Thanks for all the suggestions, gals!
Anyone have recommendations for an app where I can enter in words DD knows and the app will read them to her flashcard-style? Not that I'm a fan of flash cards for toddlers as a rule, but I have been adding to DD's word wall just to expose her to the words she knows as print and thought an app might complement that nicely...

I'm not sure if quizlet has an audio component, but it's the flash card app that a lot I my students use.

The only apps we have for M her speech therapist recommended. The favorites are peek a boo farm, curious George at the zoo, and brainy bugs train game (she is obsessed with puzzle). She can figure them out by herself, but because we use them for speech she always is working with someone.
A calculator! Ha. I need to work on my apps. I did sign up for ABC mouse though on the computer and I'm guessing they have an app too. Off to investigate before I hit the road tomorrow!
Endless reader!! Also if you have the Starbucks app. The free pick this week is the 4.99 package of endless reader. I downloaded it because I've been cheap and never paid for the app before now. M loves all the new letters
