AW whining about PIO mess up and prenatal blood draw

If you don't want to hear a really pathetic set of whining, move on.

There will never be blood in the vial when you pull back on the PIO syringe they said.  It almost never happens they said.  LIARS.  Scared the crap out of me.  This is right after I came back from getting 9 vials drawn for my prenatal screening.  I thought I was just getting my E2 and p4 done.  Oh and the phlebotomist told me that the vein I showed her as my good one wouldn't work (it did).

I'm just full of bloody tales today...

Never say never! Everything that should never happen always happens to me. So I never listen to anyone. I have had blood come back in the pio and my family have hit nerves several times.

Oh no! No need to apologize for the whining. I did every day while on PIO. I was told it could happen, but didn't usually if you made sure you were in the right area. They said it wasn't a huge issue (would just hurt more) and to take it out and try a different spot. Luckily, DH never had it come back in the syringe, but I did have some bleeding at the injection sites most nights.

Yikes, I don't like blood either. I had to get 9 vials done for all the screening at the start of IVF and they collapsed my vein. What is this prenatal screening for?? I didn't anticipate having to get another 9 vials taken...say it isn't so.

Ugh. I'm so sorry for your crappy, bloody day. I really grew to hate needles during all my cycles. I'm sorry you're the 1:100 person (or whatever) that actually hit the vein with a needle.

Do you give yourself chocolate with every shot or blood draw? That helped keep the tears at bay many a time for me.

Yeah, I had 13 vials taken at my pre-natal screening. Only other time I've had that much taken was the 14 vials at my first RE visit.

Thanks everyone. I think it was just the shock of showing up expecting to give up 2 vials worth and them going, oh, no, sorry 9, and then followed up half an hour later by hitting the vein.
mrswillie, I need to go back and get RE-marked. They messed up last time and it's faded now. It's also harder because I'm self-injecting. My mom can do my shot tomorrow which will give that side a rest tomorrow, and hopefully I can ask them to Re-mark me Tuesday.
vballbaby, the most I've had at once was 13 vials for my RPL panel. Three different people had to draw me, and one just looked at my veins and said "nope". At least this time it was just the one stick. I was also getting my e2 and p4 drawn, so it normally would have only been 7.
ProfessorChaos, I'm liking this chocolate idea. I normally take my shot after lunch before I head back to work, hut I may need to go do the chocolate method in the future.
ginnyjones82, that's a lot for initial testing, but I guess that makes sense.

I hear ya lilyharper. Try scheduling an RPL panel and the OB telling you it's either only 2 or 3 vials or 3 or 4 (I can't remember which, but it was definitely one of those) to get there and have the phlebotomist tell you sorry, try 14-15. I haven't let him forget that almost 4 years later.

The marks definitely help, but no freakin way I could've self-injected. Good luck!

I'm sorry for your bad day- no need to apologize. DH drew blood from a PIO shot one time too. I will say that I thought it was kind of cool; since the blood and oil viscosity is different it acted like a lava lamp. But I'm weird like that.

That sucks. I'm sorry you've been bled just about dry! MH gives me my PIO shot every night, and so far he hasn't hit a vein, but omg he's hit a nerve or something a couple of times. Ouch!

Holy moly, 9 vials? That seems like so much. As far as PIO goes, I think DH hit a vessels at least once every 5 pokes, it freaked him out. On a side note... by the time we finished with PIO at 12 weeks, i think I had a total of 3 tablespoons injected into my butt.
