Cribs?

Anybody transition out of the crib yet? Our LO is still in her crib, and doing great, but she is a climber and I'm worried we don't have long before she starts falling out. I'd like to keep LO#1 in her crib as long as possible, but she has already figured out how to climb over her baby gate, which is taller then her crib rails. The plan was when I get pregnant we'll move the queen bed from the guest room onto the floor of LO#1's room and transition her out of the crib for eventual use for LO#2.  Of course no luck yet getting KU, but just wondering where everybody else is at.

I can't even imagine transitioning her out yet! We have a convertible crib where we can put the toddler side rail on but Im pretty sure I'd have to cuff her to the bed so she'll stay in it. Although at school she's napped on a cot for a few months now so maybe it won't be as scary as I imagine it to be.

Hopefully a btdt mum has some words of wisdom for you.

We are still in the crib and have no intentions of moving her out of it until after her 2nd birthday. As of right now, DD is not a climber. Our crib is a convertible and we have the toddler rail stored away for it.

I wish we had a convertible crib, but we got this one as a gift and it is just a crib. It'll work out since we have a nice queen mattress in our guest room, but once we have #2 we won't have a guest room anyway and we can still use the mattress. I think our LO will do good at night, but not at naps. I guess time will tell.

My mom said by my LO's age I was climbing out of my crib nightly.

DD is still in a crib. Like yours, she is a climber and I've seen her trying to climb out which scares the crap out of me because that's a long way down. I don't think she is ready for sleeping out of the crib just yet but if she continues with trying to get out we may have to switch her soon. I'm scared for that day to come because I don't know how to transistion her nor do I know how anyone will be getting any sleep. My initial thoughts would be to make sure her room is baby proofed (we don't let her play in her room freely and she really only sleeps in there currently) by strapping furniture to walls, make sure cords (electrical and ones from blinds etc) are baby proofed, and that there isn't hardly anything for her to get into trouble with during the transistion. The only real experience I've had is our niece (2.5 years old) stayrd with us for a week and we cleared out the playroom completely, put a mattress on the floor with just a few toys and books (nothing that made noise), shut the door, and had a babygate in the doorway so that if she tried to get out we'd hopefully hear her opening the door and climbing over the gate. Granted she is used to not sleeping in a crib but I think having a minimal amount of things in the room helped to get her to sleep quicker. I'm sure that just like other transistions we've all gone through so far with our LOs we'll figure it, hopefully quickly lol.

The only thing DD currently climbs is onto the couch, so I am hoping we can keep her in the crib longer, but we will see. I am going to wait on getting a toddler bed for now. If she can stay in the crib long enough to tranaition straight to a twin bed, that would be awesome. She has never been in a huge hurry when it comes to mobility, so there is a chance that she could be fine for a while still. But this is the age where some of our LO's are going to have to start moving to toddler beds. My husband's cousin's LO climbed out of her crib and fell and broke her arm recently at the same age as our LOs, so if you think they are capable of doing it then it's probably time to think about a toddler bed.

After our trip, I've wondered if DD would sleep better in a queen mattress in the floor so she could have more room to move around. But I'd be too tempted to sleep with her so we'll wait until we wean fully then talk about transitioning.

Nope, not even thinking about it. Surprisingly LO has not attempted to climb out. She just stands and jumps while fussing. Ours is a convertible crib too. I plan to hold out as long as I can before converting. I don't know how well she would do in a toddler bed. The few times I thought of it, I worry she would try to stand (with toddler rails) and fall over.

Definitely will stay in the crib for now, and I don't really have a plan for transitioning yet. We'll just play it by ear. Strangely enough, E is not a climber though when it comes to his crib. Which is funny considering yesterday he drug a step stool to the sink so he could play in the water.

We do have a convertible to a full size I believe. I think we are skipping the toddler bed.

She's been in a queen bed since December. We have rails on both sides and she knows how to climb off the bed if she needs to. She has so far not done it during sleeping time. When she wakes up (not if, when) she cries and sits up and waits for me to come get her.

Now keep in mind that she doesn't spend all night there. She spends her naps there (about 2 hours) and about the first five hours of the night there. Then she wakes up screaming and I either climb in her bed with her, or bring her back to mine.

This is part of the reason we like having a queen in her room. I would much rather me go and sleep w/ her if she is sick or having nightmares then get into the habit of her coming into our bed.

Still in the cribs with no intention of moving them out anytime soon. Both cribs are on the lowest settings and we haven't had any escape attempts (yet).

DD hasn't started climbing her crib yet. She loves to climb on furniture though so it's probably a matter of time. That said, my plan (hope) is to keep her in the crib until after 2. LO2 is due a month before DD's 2nd bday so I don't know exactly how we'll work through all that but like PP, we plan on keeping the new little on in our room for several months anyway so hopefully there won't be any issue when we do move them around a bit.

LO is still in the crib..although I don't know for how much longer. We have a toddler bed for him but I do not think he's close to ready for it but he began climbing everything recently and I fear it's only a matter of time before he climbs out of crib. Once be climbs out, it's a done deal - we will transition into toddler bed. If he doesn't climb out, I plan on transitioning him sometime after he turns 2 but before we begin potty training.

DS hasn't tried to climb out of the crib yet but he's climbing everything else, so I doubt it will be long. We've also been talking about transitioning him sooner rather than later even if he never climbs outs of the crib because LO #2 is due in early August and we don't plan to buy another crib. We'll probably put a mattress on the floor in May or June, but I'm pretty nervous about the transition.

shoot my 3 yr old would probably still be in his crib but we also have a convertible crib and I switched him to the toddler bed when he was about 2.5. He never gets out of his bed. I do have a friend that had to switch their daughter at about this age because she was climbing out and it was a sh*t show. She was just too little to understand and she got out of her bed all the time.

LO still is in the crib. I am nervous to switch because I am afraid he will keep escaping. We also still need to baby proof his room. We have a convertible crib.

We also have him on a queen bed on the floor (no box spring) I usually co-sleep with him for half the night, but I also appreciate that he is on his own for the first part of the night and I can have alone time.

For those curious about falling off - we don't have any bedrails. Our floor is carpeted. He has fallen off twice - once he stayed asleep and another time he was upset but didn't seem to be in pain, just surprised.

We stil use halo sleep sacks but he's going to outgrow them soon. I have a pillow in there for me, but he doesn't seem to need or want a pillow or a blanket.

Crib for part of the night. Then DS sleeps with us. Actually with me. DH sleeps on the sofa by choice. DH started to notice that DS sleeps better because DS would wake up when he would come to bed after we're asleep. We should get DS his own bed.
