How do you do it? Mac hates peeing his diaper, he screams for the potty until we help him get his pants off. If we're out, he can usually hold it, but when he has to go he starts crying for the potty. He sits when he goes and is very particular about what kind of potty he will use. I keep one in the car so he can use it out there, but with the consistent -40 weather it just isn't possible right now. Occasionally I will carry the potty in the diaper bag, but that requires carrying a much bigger bag than I would like.
How do your kids use the potty in public? Am I doomed to carrying around a huge bag at all times so I can bring the potty?

I'm willing to give it a try! We.'be sat him on the actual toilet at home a few times and he loses his mind, it's like the toilet is trying to eat him or something :/
That's tough. We PTed on the real toilet with a ring so J was never afraid of the real toilet. I second sagen's suggestion. Maybe try it out a few times at home to get him used to it. I mean, he can't use the little potty forever, right?

We may have to avoid going out in public until he learns to pee standing up of course we'll have the second baby by then and have to go back to not leaving the house until that one uses the toilet normally.
Have you thought about teaching him to pee standing up now? DS2 has always done it standing. Our issue is that he just goes in his underpants when we're out
It's got some cushion and it can't pinch her butt. She's used it at home a few times. It's bulkier than the one sagen linked to, but comes in a bag too.
