Sexes/Twin Type: Mo/Di girls
Symptoms: just big and uncomfortable.
AW/Appointments/Ultrasounds: MFM appointment on Wednesday hoping Baby B has caught up some or we are looking at uneven sharing of the placenta or possible Siugr
Questions/Comments/Concerns: ^^^^
QOTW: how did you and your s.o meet? He was working at Pizza Hut, we met when I came in for an interview and then we ended up working together. He hit on me in a very cheesy way and I still tease him about it.
Maybe we could tag people for the checkins?? idk how to even do that I only get on here like once or twice a week, I'm such a newb
AW/Appointments/Ultrasounds: next appt is Thurs. excited to hear those sweet heartbeats. Not sure when next u/s is. I'll find out Thurs I suppose.
Questions/Comments/Concerns: How often did you all have u/s?
QOTW: how did you and your s.o meet? college he approached me and asked to sit with me while I was eating with a group of girls. Most flattering moment of my life.
Weeks/Fruit: 21 weeks/bok choy (according to Ovia)
Sexes/Twin Type: Fraternal B/G
Symptoms: Just difficulty sleeping, frequent urination, RLP, overall exhaustion
AW/Appointments/Ultrasounds: Had our anatomy scan last Monday and all looked good, our boy is still measuring 5-6 days ahead of the girl but both of their growth is consistent. I have another ultrasound in a week to get pics of the heart that they weren't able to last time.
Questions/Comments/Concerns: N/A, just trying to find the energy to get all the things done before these babies get here.
QOTW: how did you and your s.o meet? Online, both of us were on the rebound after two horrible, long relationships with bad people. We ended up enjoying spending time together so instead of a one-night stand, we fell in love.
AW/Appointments/Ultrasounds: Had my anatomy scan this morning. Everything looked great. Both babies were very cooperative. and we found out we are having 2 more little ladies!
Questions/Comments/Concerns: None at the moment but I'm sure I will before my next appointment!
QOTW: how did you and your s.o meet? We met at a Celtics Game! The rest is history!
@chiwfey- ultrasounds for me are once a month w mfm and then I see my OB for heartbeats,bp, weight etc. Although I just switched back to my ob for u/s bc w my high deductible plan bills are piling up quick w mfm and they expect me to pay it all in full or really high monthly payments.I'll get referred if things don't look good to OB
Weeks/Fruit: 29w2d ahh almost there/acorn squash
Sexes/Twin Type: di/di boys
Symptoms:ohhh im becoming miserable but only showing it behind closed doors. Heartburn, ankles started to swell, can't get comfy, bottomless pit lol. Been having a inner thigh/groin pain when I stand up where I have to ease into walking.
Aw/Appointments/Ultrasounds: reg ob apt friday
Questions/Comments/Concerns:I love seeing my stomach move around, I can stare at my stomach moving all day.
QOTW: how did you and your s.o meet? I met dh through a "friend" at the time (she was like an 8th grade girl, she liked EVERYONE ). She actually liked him and I paid him no mind we just all parties together. Fast forward to a year of him persuing me, I am now one happy/lucky gal
Symptoms: Difficulty sleeping - maybe related to my frequent need to pee
AW/Appointments/Ultrasounds: I've been on hospital bed rest since 23w2d, and I get an u/s 2xs/week. My last u/s was Sunday, and things look stable - the boy still has no measurable fluid, but everything else seems positive. (Prior to PPROM, I had an u/s about once a month with my MFM).
Questions/Comments/Concerns: I'm constantly leaking amniotic fluid, so I'm used to that. Starting last night, I've passed 3 dark red "clots" (I'm assuming) when peeing - but the fluid is still clear, and its only about every other time I pee. So, that's fun.
QOTW: how did you and your s.o meet? We met at a wedding. We were both last minute replacements for other people's cancelled dates. I was taking my sister to her friend's wedding after my sister's boyfriend got injured the day before, and DH went with an ex-girlfriend who had a last minute cancellation from her date. We sat at the same table during dinner, and just hit it off.
Symptoms: Nothing major, just tiredness and feeling big. My appetite seems to have calmed down a bit and I'm starting to get full faster.
AW/Appointments/Ultrasounds: I had a growth scan on Friday and everything continues to look good. Baby B continues to kick her sister. And at one point, she very, very clearly showed that she is a girl, but put her arms in front of her face when the tech tried to get a look with the 4D wand. It'll be interesting to see what their personalities are like when they're on the outside!
Questions/Comments/Concerns: I bought a Snoogle, but I'm barely coordinated enough to use it. After two restless nights, I think I finally figured out how to get comfortable with a combination of it and some other pillows.
QOTW: how did you and your s.o meet? We met in grad school, where we were in the same degree program (master's in teaching). He always came right from work, so he was always dressed well, which I noticed. Then we bonded over privately making fun of the professor and our classmates because their only teaching experience was in wealthy private schools and we were teaching in the "real world".

Weeks/Fruit: 28+3
Sexes/Twin Type: Fraternal boy/girl
Symptoms: Fatigue, indigestion
AW/Appointments/Ultrasounds: Super anxious for my appointment tomorrow. I had a big jump in length of my cervix so they wanted to check me in 2 weeks instead of 4.
Questions/Comments/Concerns: Just hoping my cervix isn't continuing to shorten rapidly. I'm getting so close to the end!
QOTW: how did you and your s.o meet? We sat next to each other in class my freshman year in college. We ended up having a few classes together but didn't start dating until just before our last year.

chiwifey I have gone once a month after the anatomy scan. I do have to go sooner because the MFM was a little concerned that my cervix might be shortening too quickly now so I will have a quick check from 2 weeks ago. All of my u/s are at the MFM.
chiwifey, I missed your question before, sorry! I'm scheduled for one growth scan a month after my anatomy scan, but they didn't get all the pics I need so I'm going back two weeks after my AS and then will return every four weeks until delivery.
I had one additional growth scan between 12 and 20 weeks at 16 weeks to make sure that the growth difference wasn't an issue since my doctors noticed the 5 day growth difference at my NT scan at 12 weeks.
@feegan, sorry the Snoogle isn't helping! I've had mine for like two weeks now and it helps me to stay on my side while I sleep, but my hips hurt from laying only on either side. I also stopped using blankets and turn the heat off at night now because it does make me a little warm.
I get ultrasounds 3 times a month..I see my MFM every two weeks and my OB once a month and they do ultrasounds each time. Gotta keep a closer eye on my babies though since they share a placenta so IDK how helpful my answer is.

T&P's for your cervix and I mean that! I usually only log in once or twice a week but I will be checking tomorrow for an update on you. Good luck!
Symptoms: Occasionally a bit crampy, RLP, and some Braxton Hicks. Pretty much used to the fatigue now, and it's definitely not as bad as it was.
AW/Appointments/Ultrasounds: One week until the big one: our fetal medicine scan.
Questions/Comments/Concerns: I'm only up 5lbs. I've only known we've got twins cooking for about 3 weeks, and since then I've tried really hard to increase my meals and protein intake, but the weight gain is still really slow going
QOTW: how did you and your s.o meet? DH commented on a photo of mine on an art website while we were living on different continents. Two years later we were living together, and five years after that we were married.
AW/Appointments/Ultrasounds: Growth scan yesterday was good, baby A is estimated to be about 4 pounds and baby b is estimated to be 3lb8oz. Everything looks favorable for a vaginal delivery. I spent a few days in the hospital last week due to ptl, but thankfully it was stopped with tocolytics and I got a course of steroid shots. I had a nst yesterday and I am still having regular contractions but my cervix seems pretty stable so that's good.
Questions/Comments/Concerns: chiwifey I've had ultrasounds every 2 weeks - from weeks 16-24 it was just a cervical length check with a quick look at the babies. More recently each ultrasound is a growth scan.
QOTW: how did you and your s.o meet? We met at a mutual friend's for lunch initially but didn't become friendly until a couple of years after that when I moved close by to him.
began TTC 2009 N&A, our b/g twins born and lost 3/7/12 at 20 weeks due to PPROM N (girl), 6/26/13 E&A (b/g twins), 4/5/15 BFP 3/27/17, EDD 12/3/17 IVF veteran with multiple losses - feel free to ask me about it.
elvenqueen, At my OB appointment last week I was up 13 lbs. (18w4d at the time). Dr. was very happy with that. According to Dr. Luke, I should gain 20 lbs by 20 weeks. Not sure I will gain another 7 in a weeks time! As PP said, just try and make good choices. Eat lots of protein and drink lots of water! At my anatomy scan, both babies looked perfect and growing right on track.

@feegan and julie216 -- thank you for the reassurance! Hopefully I'll be able to report a bit of weight gain next week after my protein kick, but so long as my Dr is happy on Tuesday I won't stress about it.

elvenqueen, so apparently I lied to you on the Aug 15 board. According to my OB's scale yesterday, i've only gained 3lbs in the past month. When I asked her if I should be concerned and mentioned Dr. Luke's book, she told me that 3lbs at 13 weeks was just perfect and not to worry. I told her that I'd done a primary literature search on the correlation between timely weight gain and reduced risk of preterm delivery, and she astutely pointed out that the studies don't control for overall health of the pregnant mother, which is by far the strongest correlate with healthy pregnancy. I am, as my husband affectionately like to remind me, of "hearty stock" and have been blessed with really excellent health in general, so I'm going to just keep doing what I'm doing and trust that my doc will counsel me if anything starts to look less than ideal.
Weeks/Fruit: 13 weeks--jalepenos! Sometimes I really hate the produce choices--such weird shapes for a baby!
Sexes/Twin Type: Di/di TEAM GREEN *WHOOPWHOOP*
Symptoms: Headaches, this week, which are L-A-M-E. I'd say I have them about 50% of days in the past two weeks, but when they come on I just can't shake them and it's really the pits. Nausea has slowly subsided (I never really had MS, just some general grossness) and is now only hitting me once a week or so for an hour-ish. I strangely seem to have the fatigue pattern backwards, as I made it through first trimester okay with an extremely physically demanding work schedule, but now that I'm on an easier service and about to enter second tri, I have trouble keeping my eyes open past about 9am.
AW/Appointments/Ultrasounds: Had my second OB appointment on Monday--golly I adore my doctor. She's so damn practical and knowledgeable and I always feel better after running through my list of questions with her. Got to see the little boogers on her handheld US and see their hearts beating. I'm still blown away by how active they are in utero! I knew they moved, but mine do barrel rolls and Michael Jackson dance moves in tandem. It's awesome and super weird.
Questions/Comments/Concerns: Did/does anyone else sort of hate Barbara Luke's book? First of all, I can't help but notice that the book refers to her as Dr. Luke (and I get that she is a Sc. D) in a way that makes me feel like they are trying to fake out readers in to forgetting she is not actually an M.D. I am absolutely not discrediting her credentials as an R.D. and R.N.--both are so important and incredibly deserving of respect--but I can't shake the feeling that the way she is addressed in the book feels a little...fraudulent, or at least intentionally misleading. I finally hit my limit on Sunday morning when I was reading the guidelines for working women--4-6 hour days with 2 30 minute naptimes where you have to lay down? Give me a break. First of all, that is not full-time employement, and while I'd love to take the next 6 months off to next and preen and be knocked up, I need to finish school on time so I can pay my loans. I get that she is trying to endorse a "best-case" scenario, and that's fine, but I really felt like reading that book in its entirety was setting me up for terrible guilt if anything were to go sideways, because the guidelines she lists just truly are not compatible with reality for me. I suppose this has turned into a huge vent, but whatever--I needed to get it out. It bugs me when I encounter things that I don't feel are very empowering towards women, and that sort of sums up how I felt about a lot of her book.
QOTW: how did you and your s.o meet? We were roommates in a house of 4 young professionals the year after we both graduated college. We were both dating other people and were good friends for a year before our respective relationships ended and we started dating and moved out of the shared house so it wouldn't feel like too much all at once. A year later we moved back in together and four years after that, we got married. We'll have been married for 3 years this summer, together for 8.
ETA: chiwifey, so far, my only "official" US was at 11w5d for my NT scan. Next one will not be until 20 weeks. Starting at 28, I believe they start doing them a bit more frequently to check positioning. My OB also has a little handheld US machine she's used at both of my checkups just for fun and to reassure me, but I wouldn't count those, really.
I didn't realize Dr. Luke wasn't a Medical doctor! Not that her education and titles don't deserve respect & distinction, they most certainly do! After reading her book I started to feel more anxious instead of calmer. I felt I was going to have to leave work at 20-23 weeks. I really don't think that is going to be the case. I thought I was harming my babies by not gaining a TON of weight. (I'll be 20 weeks on Monday, to date I have gained 13-15 lbs). My anatomy scan showed the babies were growing right on track. So, I decided to just use the book as a guideline not a bible! My MFM and OB work very closely together. MFM said my OB was very experienced in twin pregnancies. He also told me he didn't see any reason why I couldn't carry till at least 35 weeks. No mention of leaving work by 20-23 weeks. I'm going to listen to what my doctors have to say!

purplegaloshes I didn't hate her book, but I agree that she perhaps intentionally misleads people a bit to think she is a MD. Also, I think the intensity of some of her recommendations and the way she presents them - as if you are being negligent or not trying hard enough if you can't/won't carry them out to their fullest extent could cause a lot of unnecessary stress and anxiety. I think a lot of her recommendations are extremely helpful to follow as loose guidelines especially re: diet and I do think she is more knowledgeable than many OBs and MFMs on the topic of nutrition for a multiples pregnancy so I found the book very worthwhile in that respect. She does border on blaming moms for poor outcomes and acts like a good outcome is something that you control, which really bothers me.
I have had 2 twin pregnancies - one that was a fiasco and did not end in taking home living children and my current twin pregnancy which thankfully has been much smoother so far. During the complicated twin pregnancy, I had morning sickness that bordered hyperemesis and had only gained 6 pounds by 20 weeks. This time around my weight gain has been very much in line with Dr. Luke's guidelines based on my BMI without trying very hard. Maybe in the first twin pregnancy my poor nutritional status was indeed linked to my chronic abruption and PPROM but it certainly wasn't my fault and I tried so mightily to get enough protein and do everything I could. This time around, my body has just cooperated a lot more and I've been able to gain the weight and to maintain the pregnancy but as far as I am concerned that's just dumb luck - not a skill or a choice. Her insinuation that it's anything more I found naive and hurtful.

THIS. I think you ladies really tapped on what I was trying to get at in a much more eloquent way than I did. I think ultimately our doctors know our bodies better than some omniscient narrator and we know our bodies better still. There's some merit in trusting the process and treating yourself gently. In the end, we are all just doing the best we know how.
Hi all, we've been slacking w our check ins lol. Sorry I'm posting and running.

Questions/Comments/Concerns:
QOTW: how did you and your s.o meet?
Weeks/Fruit: 20w3d, banana Twin type: b/g twins (di/di) Symptoms: no symptoms, extremely easy pregnancy so far (my singleton was far worse). I expect the misery to start soon, though! Appointments: Someone asked about U/S. I am not being monitered by MFM and my OB does u/s every 4-6 weeks. I had one at 10 weeks (diagnosed with twins), 15 weeks (mini anatomy scan) and I'll have my full anatomy scan next week at 21 weeks. I worry I'm not being monitered *enough*, but I guess my twins are di/di and I have had a normal easy pregnancy before and I'm young-ish so no one is super worried. Concerns: I've gained SO MUCH WEIGHT. OMG. I'm 20 weeks and up over 30 lbs. I gained 70 lbs with my singleton so I guess I shouldnt' be surprised but it's depressing. I'm not eating any fun foods (avoiding sugar , cookies, cakes, etc) so that makes it more upsettting (I should at least get some ice cream out of this gig if I'm going to put on 70 lbs again!). QOTW: We met doing cancer research at a cancer hospital.
