Anyone live in a lake or have a lake vacation home? We have one in the family that's mom maintains. The bottom is pretty yucky now. My sister used to rake it, which I could do, but I wasn't sure what we can do to bring back the sandy bottom. I will get a book from the library when I go there next, but a google search is all over the place. Do those muck pellets work? Do they pollute at all?
The other issue is extremely pokey saw grass in the back, but I think that would require ripping it out, so not sure in that. Maybe just put down some grass seed in the spring?
The front is all pine trees which is another challenge because grass doesn't grow and sap. I'm ok with the lack of grass in the front, but I think DH would like it. Any ways of dealing with all that sap? It's not s huge deal but we can't go barefoot, put our towels down, and sometimes it gets in our hair.
Ugh- everything I read on the saw grass is that we have to rip them all out. It is a big area, and no money that we want to spend for a professional. I guess we have to wait on that one.
The lake house in our family has a muck bottom - we just wear water shoes. I would way rather that than try to maintain a lake bottom on my weekends!
We wear water shoes too, but it has gotten really bad. We sink quite a ways in. I wouldn't be doing this every weekend probably once at the beginning of the summer.
