Intro and a Quick Question for fertility monitor users

Hi Everyone, I'm not 100% sure what happened on TB, but from what I gather, it was pretty shitty and unfair, I just wanted to say sorry and I hope it's cool if I join you in your new 'home.' It took me a while (I was an infrequent lurker) to figure out that everyone had moved over here...  So I thought I should stop stalking you all around the internet and say hi.

I'm 30 and my husband is 31. We've been trying for a second for 6 cycles now. I'm still breastfeeding our two year old a few times a day. Unfortunately, my period has been fairly irregular (anywhere from 28-42 days) since I got it back 9 months a go, and while temping and using OPKs has been helpful, we have not had any luck and our timing hasn't been great for 3/6 of our TTC cycles. I was considering purchasing the clearblue fertility monitor and I wondered if there were any users who have experience with it, and what do you think of it...etc? Is it a worthwhile investment?  thanks! and I look forward to getting to know you all.

Also, are there any breastfeeding moms on this board who are TTC or would I be better posting on the breastfeeding board?

CBFM is not my forte, I use wondfos. Cheaper and easy!

I believe mamasarge uses the GCBM or whatever it's called. I don't know if she's over here or what her new name is. Maybe she can offer some insight. I would never purchase it myself, but some people like not having to decipher lines.

Hi! I haven't used the CBFM- I kept hoping I wouldn't need something so pricey. I use wondfos and sometimes CBE advanced OPKs. Interestingly I've only ever had BFPs after using the CBE but I think it was coincidence. Anyway I wish you the best of luck! Welcome!

Welcome! I've used the CBFM and it's nice, but the sticks for the monitor are expensive when compared to Wondfos. Also, since you have a nice stretch for cycle days, you may be using a lot of sticks per cycle until the monitor figures out your possible fertile days.

Welcome! I use a CBFM and for me, it doesn't work. I get high readings for days and have not had a peak reading yet. The only reason I bought it was because it was covered under my FSA and I needed to use the money in my account or I would've lost the money at the end of the year.

I just ran out of the test sticks this morning. Next cycle I'm sticking with just using Dollar Tree OPKs.

ETA: I've used the CB Advanced OPK which I think is similar. It was nice to get the smiley but I don't think it was necessary (I got a clear + on a wondfo the same day).

I've used Wondfos, Clinical Guards, dollar store and CB digitals. Ive done some comparison experiments taking multiples at once and I think I like the Wondfos and dollar stores best. Digitals seem like a great idea but I've has a solid smiley sitting right next to a wondfo and dollar store that were 100% negative.....And yes, I do adore peeing on sticks.

Hey there. No experience with the monitor. I used to use Wondfo but stopped using OPK a couple cycles ago.

Welcome! No personal experience with the fertility monitor, but I've heard that if you have multiple LH surges (which some women do) it can really screw up the detection. I've done well with CB digital and wondfos for the last 2 cycles, so would recommend trying those before making the investment into the monitor...

Yeah, isn't the monitor super expensive? I got the advanced digital to try since it was the same price as the regular digi with a coupon, but I would not buy the fertility monitor. Wondfos are where it's at. I won't buy the digi again.

Hello! I am currently weaning my almost 15 month old as we TFAS. I've found my cycle to still be a bit wonky due to BFing. I've also used the CBE digi monitor. I had no problem using it with my first but this time around I used the "advanced" one because it was the only one available at my pharmacy the day I went. It was strange and like PP said I got "high" for like 6 days and then finally got a peak. After that I read a lot of bad reviews for it. I just found the "original" CBE monitor on drugstore.com so I'm going back to that this month. Good luck!

ETA: Sorry - I am watching Downton Abbey and reading at the same time so I messed up! I use the CBE digi ovulation test not the fertility monitor. I don't know anything about the fertility monitor.

Last time I used the OPKs from Dollar Tree and got a blatant positive the day before I O'd.
