Well about a few weeks ago I thought I had thrush but apparently I don't. Regardless, my nipples are in BAD shape. It's been bad for like a month+ now.... The whole areola is cracked and bleeding. (I pump 90% of the time). I use XXL medela flanges and they rub against the walls of the plastic almost immediately. I've been putting lanolin on them to reduce friction but it doesn't really help. I also use the lowest power. The cracked areas start bleeding 20 seconds into pumping. I only pump 2x a day.
Post pumping I do breastmilk, air dry, then tons of lanolin.
LO is 11 months old (plus 1 day : )
Is there anything else I can get (preferably from a store so I don't have to wait for shipping time) to help?? I'm currently mixing BM and WCM (pedi ok'd the early start). I wanted to make it to one year but it's not looking good. Not to mention, just the process of weaning (unless I quit cold turkey) hurts like hell.
LO doesn't do that fantastic with solids yet so I liked how I had BM helping his diet while we worked on his finger foods etc. Now I feel like I'm running out of time

This may not be really helpful but I could never get the medela pump to be comfortable. I switched to an AVENT pump that has soft inserts in the flanges and its life changing. Even the manual one may be better for you if u don't want to spend money on a new pump.
I second the EMAB nipple butter. I would use BM, let that dry and then put the butter on. I also put hydrogel dressing on to help with the healing. They're expensive but you can rinse them with water and stick them in the fridge to reuse. They really helped with the pain. GL!

You may want to ask your OB or midwife for an APNO (all purpose nipple ointment) prescription. It has a small amount of a topical steroid in it, so it's able to reduce inflammation quickly.

I was having a similar problem and I found that the antifungal meds did provide a cooling sensation even if I didn't have thrush. I wouldn't use it all the time, but I don't see why occasional use would hurt.

I'll definitely call my OB tomorrow to see about a script. I probably won't buy a pump since I only want to squeeze out 4 more weeks... but the manual pump seems like a good idea! I'll check out those other products too, thanks!
