How's it going? Very well! I love breastfeeding and I'm so glad I stuck it out through those brutal first weeks.
Anything that's still a problem? The thrush is almost cleared up. One thing I've noticed that's not exactly a problem but still bugs me is that my right breast produces more than my left. I guess this is normal.
Are you getting thru growth spurts ok? Yep. I actually haven't experienced anything that's clearly a growth spurt since 2-3 weeks.
If you are returning to work when? And have you started pumping yet? I'm returning at the end of the month. I'm waiting to really start pumping till the thrush is all clear, but I did pump a bottle so I could go out on Sunday. I love my hands-free pumping bra!
Any other issues/questions/advice/cute BF stories to AW? I guess one issue is that I have a lot of unfounded anxiety about my supply. Nathan is a very efficient eater—he only eats for 5-10 minutes at a sitting. But he's quite fat and producing tons of wet diapers. I wish I could be less anxious about this because it's the only thing that makes breastfeeding less than wonderful.
Anything that's still a problem? My supply seems to have regulated more by now. I invested in one nursing bra in my new size and am bracing myself to buy another along with a good sports bra so I can run again when the snow melts. 32G bras aren't cheap...
Are you getting thru growth spurts ok? We will see how the 12 week spurt goes
If you are returning to work when? And have you started pumping yet? First day back and am presently doing my first pump at work. 6+ ounces so far!
Any other issues/questions/advice/cute BF stories to AW? I have mixed feelings about mostly pumping now that I an back at work. Honestly I don't always enjoy nursing every 2 hours so I like the "break". I think I will enjoy night nursing more now. DS has started grabbing my shirt or sticking his little hand under my bra/tank straps it is so cute

How's it going? Going ok with the bfing. Either his latch is mostly better, or my nipples have gotten over the initial pain period. Anything that's still a problem? Have some problems at night. Took a pacifier the other night to calm him down and sleep (first time), and he hasn't wanted one since. Consistently sleeping decently every night has been majorly eluding us and I'm not sure why. Are you getting thru growth spurts ok? He will be 6 weeks next week, not looking forward to doing this again, but we will persevere! If you are returning to work when? And have you started pumping yet? Don't know for sure when, but likely by the end of the month. Started pumping last week. Haven't been very consistent with it as I don't feel I need a huge stash. Any other issues/questions/advice/cute BF stories to AW? I don't think so, and of I do, I'm too tired to remember!
How's it going? Much better! I have had to let go of watching the clock for how long and how often DD nurses and my anxiety has really subsided. I have much more confidence now in "knowing" what she needs.
Anything that's still a problem? My nipples are still cracked but not nearly as painful with different positions and slooooowly healing…
Are you getting thru growth spurts ok? The last one was rough, I was convinced DD was ill since her behavior changed so drastically during it but no, just a growth spurt
If you are returning to work when? And have you started pumping yet? I am self-employed so I need to return soon, though I haven't set a date yet. It will likely just be part-time to start. So far I have only pumped for the odd bottle.
Any other issues/questions/advice/cute BF stories to AW? I love that B is more alert and awake now. When she stares up at me while nursing even if it's only for a few seconds it totally melts my heart. Makes me so happy I stuck things out when I wanted to quit almost every day.
emmyg65 my DD nurses for only 5 min or so as well. 10 would be a huge shock to me, so I understand your anxiety. We saw an LC last week who gave me great advice to help relax- "your baby will not starve itself. If 5 min isn't enough she will tell you and want to nurse more frequently. If she's not showing signs of hunger after she's done, then she's done". Our nursing sessions were always ending with screaming because I was trying to force her to nurse longer. Since I started to follow her lead we are both happier. She is gaining fine, her output is great and the screaming has stopped. Try not to stress though I know it's easier said than done.
How old is LO? How's it going? Two months. Going well.
Anything that's still a problem? Reflux is getting worse. We will be discussing it at his pediatrician appointment this week.
Are you getting thru growth spurts ok? Two more weeks until the next one...
If you are returning to work when? And have you started pumping yet? Five more weeks off. I can sneak in a pump occasionally now that I have a manual pump.
Any other issues/questions/advice/cute BF stories to AW? Little guy has been STTN the past week. Two nights we had no night feedings. In general his first stretch of sleep is now around 5.5 hours. His night feeding seems to be getting shorter (sometimes he only eats for ten minutes before falling back to sleep).
For moms with babies one month to about three months.
How old is LO? How's it going?
She is 8 weeks old. I think it's going well, can't wait till our 2 month appointment next week to reaffirm it is going well lol.
Anything that's still a problem?
No problems, but like emmyg65, my LO is only eating 6-8 minutes total. I hope she is getting enough!!! She is fat and has a double chin haha. Just makes me nervous because we spent first 4 weeks supplementing with my own breastmilk because she was inefficient at breast. I was pumping after every feed and giving her an ounce of pumped milk. Haven't really pumped the past 3 weeks.
Are you getting thru growth spurts ok?
I think so, I don't think we have really noticed any for sure.
If you are returning to work when? And have you started pumping yet?
I'm returning mid April. Reducing my hours from 32 to 20 hours a week (I'm in grad school too). Hoping I'll be able to work a 12 and an 8 hour shift (emailed my manager...waiting to hear back). I just started to pump this past weekend again because I need to do something for school and she refused the bottle (waited for me to get home to breastfeed). So going to pump at an evening feed time everyday and let hubby practice giving her a bottle so she's not so shocked when she is getting 3 in a row when I go back to work.
Any other issues/questions/advice/cute BF stories to AW? I probably should start pumping to save an emergency freezer stash soon since I have high lipase and need to scald my milk = more work ugh

How old is LO? How's it going? 1 month. Better than I thought and everyday things improve.
Anything that's still a problem? DH gives him a bottle of formula every night. But once I start pumping regularly we should be able to switch that back to breastmilk.
Are you getting thru growth spurts ok? yeah thats why we started supplementing it was a life saver.
If you are returning to work when? And have you started pumping yet? I'll start looking for a job after we move. Probably another 3-4 weeks
Any other issues/questions/advice/cute BF stories to AW? I pumped this morning before I ran some errands. So DH gave him a bottle of breastmilk while I was gone. But he was fussy and didn't want to take it. He takes his formula no problem. Anyone experience this and have some advice?
abb1701 was he definitely hungry? Was the milk sour or off tasting? If your haven't tried to offer BM in a bottle before, make sure the taste doesn't change over time in the fridge. It could be a lipase issue like a PP has.
For moms with babies one month to about three months.
How old is LO? B/g twins 9weeks How's it going? Its going good now, after a few hiccups
Anything that's still a problem? Not really, DD gets really upset and just won't latch if she's really hungry, but most of the time she nurses well. DS always nurses great and the only problem is getting him to un-latch (after an hour or so of BF)
Are you getting thru growth spurts ok? Yes, I feel like all I do is nurse sometimes but im getting through it
If you are returning to work when? I'm not in a hurry to get back to work, I'm applying and just waiting for just the right nursing job to come along. And have you started pumping yet? Yes, but I use what I pump to supplement DD or use for DH to give so I can get a good nap sometimes
Any other issues/questions/advice/cute BF stories to AW? I have been worried about supply after almost giving up BF and letting my supply drop a few weeks ago, but ive gotten my supply back up and babies pretty much only get BM except for the occasional bottle of formula. I also went to Dr today and weighed DD and then BF for about 5 mins then re-weighed and she got a little over 2oz in 5 mins so I feel much better about whether she's getting enough!
limabeanmom,abb1701, I have high lipase in my milk which makes it taste disgusting after 24 hours in fridge (metallic/off tasting...tastes like vomit after 24+ hours). Taste your milk and make sure it is tasting ok, if milk not pumped that day or from frozen stash. Could be a reason why baby is refusing it. The milk isn't bad, but it doesn't taste good. So I have to now scald if I don't give my milk within 24 hours if I want baby to take it. My co-worker found out she had lipase too late, after freezing 500 ounces of milk, which she is now donating to a bank b/c DS won't drink it.
Also baby just might need more practice with bottle, we are going to start pumping one bottle a day for my DD so she can get use to it. I can actually get her to take a bottle (but I also feed preemies for a living who are hard to feed), hubby on the other hand doesn't have the bottle skills and needs her to take it more easily. So I'm going to start coaching him/her now, weeks before I go back to work.

I talked to DH more about it and apparently DS drank some of the bottle but not all of it. So I'm guessing he ate till he was full then refused the rest. (When he takes a bottle at night he eats the whole thing) It was DH first time alone with DS so I'm sure he was nervous about the whole thing.
limabeanmom, No, you can actually scald the milk (but once it tastes bad, it tastes bad and needs to be thrown out/mixed with good tasting milk to dilute bad taste or donated (tube fed babies can take it and donation places mix it with good tasting milk diluting the bad taste)). But make sure this is your issue first, my hubby and I did a taste test and had the milk in the fridge and tasted it throughout the day and every day to see if it was our issue. Someone also suggested it could be a container issue so we put it in different containers. Unfortunately, not a container issue for us and high lipase was the culprit. If lipase is your issue, contact me again, and I can teach you about scalding milk. My scalded milk lasts 5 days in fridge

I have the same anxieties despite the weight gain in LO (he is a tank!) and the wet and dirty diapers - I wish I could relax about it more!

How old is LO? 7 weeks How's it going? Great! I couldn't imagine feeding him any other way
Anything that's still a problem? No issues right now, just full and leaky in the mornings now that LO is STTN consistently. It's heavenly and there is no way I am waking up to pump!
Are you getting thru growth spurts ok? Didn't even notice a six week growth spurt that I was so worried about.... Don't hate me, he sleeps 10 hours at night and is a great napper. The only time he isn't happy is right before bed. I need to work on a routine, like bath, nurse, book, bed. I am also working on laying him down in the crib drowsy, which works when he is calm. He sucks his thumb and falls asleep!
If you are returning to work when? And have you started pumping yet? SAHM here, but I am pumping sometimes to have bottles for when my hubby and I have date nights. Working well so far!
Any other issues/questions/advice/cute BF stories to AW? I love when he looks like he is having a conversation with his food before he eats it, when he tries to smile while he's eating and milk runs out, and that I'm the only one that he wants when he is unhappy/hungry. Breastfeeding is so worth all the work in the beginning!
Eta: My LO is also a big boy and he only nurses for 5 to 10 minutes most of the time; I don't stress about it. If baby is gaining, happy, and having plenty of diapers, don't worry yourself, just enjoy it!
I'm so relieved to see that the short nursing sessions aren't unusual. I think I'll be able to relax now.
I remember being all freaked out when my LO cut nursing sessions to max of 10 minutes (around 3m) and then to max of 5-6 minutes (around 6m). Trying to get her to go longer resulted in squirming, clamping and some biting. Just shy of 20m, she nurses anywhere between 2 and 20 minutes.

How old is LO? How's it going? 6 weeks. It's going OK.
Anything that's still a problem? Not a "problem," but he's getting his tongue tie removed in a week so I'm excited to see if that will make him click less and keep a latch better.
Are you getting thru growth spurts ok? In the midst 6 week and it's rough. He was up every half hour to 1 hour from 9pm-10am. He's finally sleeping now hopefully for a longer stretch. The only thing that makes him stop crying is my boob. I was worried he wasn't getting enough milk but I hear him swallowing and I see milk dribble out of his mouth sometimes. His diaper output is very sufficient so there's that but I feel bad when he unlatches and then roots around like he's starving.
If you are returning to work when? And have you started pumping yet? I am returning in June and I haven't started pumping yet.
Any other issues/questions/advice/cute BF stories to AW? I'm just extremely exhausted being a milk machine for this tiny tot.
How old is LO? How's it going? 12 weeks! It's going well. She's a chunker, she's growing out of everything so I know she's eating well.
Anything that's still a problem? Just super leaky boobs. Lefty produces more. I nurse on one side only (usually) for each feeding and when I nurse on the right side lefty leaks through everything. Ib to putting pressure on it to keep it from leaking but I think I have bad timing because it doesn't seem to work.
Are you getting thru growth spurts ok? I think we're supposed to start one now, but so far so good, LO just seems to be sleeping more.
If you are returning to work when? And have you started pumping yet?
I'll be working super part time (one day a week for 6 hours) in about 6 weeks. I've pumped some, but I only have a small stash in my freezer.
Any other issues/questions/advice/cute BF stories to AW? My LO loves to look up at me and smile while nursing. I'm not a fan of her spilling milk on me when she does it but I'll take it for the smile.

How old is LO? How's it going? 7.5 weeks. It's getting better. We're still working on weaning from the shield. Yesterday he went almost 15 minutes until he got frustrated.
Anything that's still a problem? He seems to still be very hungry after nursing without the shield.
Are you getting thru growth spurts ok? I think so. I feel like all I do is nurse. Some days are better than others.
If you are returning to work when? And have you started pumping yet? Monday I have about a day's worth in the freezer for emergencies. I'm hoping to just pump for the next day so he's getting somewhat fresh milk.

How old is LO? 5w3d
How's it going? Great. We're in a good rhythm.
Anything that's still a problem? Just that I can't always recline as much as I need to to help with my fast letdown, so LO will sputter and pull off at times. It's not an issue at home, just when we're out.
Also, LO is taking forever to fall back asleep after MOTN feedings. She's still eating every 2h and is so grunty. Ugh, trying to wait it out.
Are you getting thru growth spurts ok? So far so good. Waiting for the 6wk monster.
If you are returning to work when? And have you started pumping yet? April 18, so not yet.

I went to breastfeeding support group for fun and lo only nursed about 10 mins and transferred 3.3 oz!
