Hello, PAIF! Since there doesn't appear to be an existing regular GTKY Monday thread, and since it's generally a fun, upbeat sort of thread, I thought I'd go ahead and start one. (I also have grand plans for Furbaby Friday, if we have enough furbabies around here.)

So I give you: GTKY Monday: Where in the World Edition

1. Where in the world are you? (Be as specific or as general as you like, this being the Interwebs and all.)

2. How did you land where you are? (Hometown? College? Following the lurve of your life? Witness protection?)

3. If you could pick up and move anywhere, where would that be?

1. Where in the world are you? I am in the New England area.

2. How did you land where you are? (Hometown? College? Following the lurve of your life? Witness protection?) I grew up in this state, though not in this area, and have also lived in NY for a while. My hubby and I moved back here after living in Manhattan to be closer to family.

3. If you could pick up and move anywhere, where would that be? Somewhere in California, or the northwest probably. I love the west coast.

Im also in New England area! North of Boston.

DH and I were born and raised here, it's too beautiful to go anywhere else!

3. If you could pick up and move anywhere, where would that be?
I don't think I'd leave here but I would have a second home somewhere. Maybe aruba since we've been going every year for the past 12 years. So not realistic but a girl can dream

2. How did you land where you are? (Hometown? College? Following the lurve of your life? Witness protection?) 3 months after we got married in 2011 DH got a job offer out here. He works in baseball, rehabbing players, so this is like one of the major hubs for baseball with spring training and whatnot. I was unemployed, lots of teacher cuts in the schools, so it was nice to come out here and find a stable job. It's even better that is a school I absolutely love!

3. If you could pick up and move anywhere, where would that be? I wouldn't move now, the weather is way too beautiful. HOWEVER, when summer hits I would love to be back in the Midwest where we moved from! I go back during the summer and it's such a relief from the 100s!

1. Where in the world are you? (Be as specific or as general as you like, this being the Interwebs and all.) Near Green Bay, WI, home of the Pack!

2. How did you land where you are? (Hometown? College? Following the lurve of your life? Witness protection?) My job. Professor positions are hard to come by, so you go where you get the best offer. Also, DH is a dairy vet, so this corner of the country works well!

3. If you could pick up and move anywhere, where would that be? I love living here, though at about this time of the year I'd prefer to go somewhere warm! Seriously, though, the only thing I don't like about where I live is being so far from family (they are all east coast). If someone would hurry up and invent a transporter, I'd be perfectly content to live here forever!

Upstate NY. It's okay.

Got a great job! I'm from Chattanooga, TN, although I haven't lived there in ages.

3. If you could pick up and move anywhere, where would that be?
Realistically, New England is the dream, mostly to be close to family, although I'd love to have a summer home somewhere tropical.

I'm in NYC. (I feel like there is enough population density that no one is going to find me if I don't say "NYC area," LOL.)

Came up for college, stayed for the boy (who's from NJ and wasn't going anywhere). Because if I hadn't met my husband I had serious post-graduation designs for moving to...

3. If you could pick up and move anywhere, where would that be?
... Paris. More realistically, MH occasionally kick around the idea of moving to Miami (he did 2 of 4 undergrad years there) but I doubt it'll ever happen. My parents are going to eventually (-5 years?) sell my childhood home in Atlanta and move to the Jacksonville area, so that might open up the Florida discussion again, but we'll see.

2. How did you land where you are? (Hometown? College? Following the lurve of your life? Witness protection?)
I crossed the border (from Wisconsin) after college because there are more jobs here

3. If you could pick up and move anywhere, where would that be?
Our families are in the Midwest, so we won't be going anywhere soon, but the plan is to become snow birds (SW Florida) when we retire. Only 25 more years - can't wait!

2. How did you land where you are? (Hometown? College? Following the lurve of your life? Witness protection?) H and I were both from different towns in south jersey. When we were house hunting, we picked a nice town in between the two families.

3. If you could pick up and move anywhere, where would that be? California, in a heartbeat. I hate everything about cold weather. I don't even enjoy a pretty snowfall. I just want to be somewhere where my beach time isn't limited to 4 months a year.

I am one town over from my hometown. DH and i picked this area bc it is halfway between each of our jobs.

3. If you could pick up and move anywhere, where would that be?

Not far...I'd like to move closer to the beach. That's about 45 mins from where we currently live. DH's hometown would be ideal (15 min drive to our fav beach!)

1. Where - I'm in Florida, central florida to be a bit more specific, which is just far enough from the beach to be annoying.

2. How did I get here - I was else where in FL but moved here for college, stayed for MH's job. I generally like it here.

3. Where would I like to be - Maybe South or South West FL. It still gets a bit too cold here for my taste and like I said, beaches.

1. I live near St. Louis, Missouri.

2. I have lived here my entire life and so has DH. I went to a local university, so I've never lived anywhere else.

3. We would move to Laramie, Wyoming. My DH went to tech school there and loved it. We went on a vacation there a few years ago and I fell in love with it too. We both love the cold weather and the snow.

2. How did you land where you are? (Hometown? College? Following the lurve of your life? Witness protection?) My family moved here from the greater Boston area when I was 4. So, I always stuck with the familiar.

3. If you could pick up and move anywhere, where would that be? Bermuda!! I love it there!!! If we were sticking to the states, then DH has always wanted to go to South Carolina. His cousin owns a marina there on a very large lake.

ginnyjones82, Yes, I think I remember a 3T thread (shortly before you took a break) where all the NY people checked in, and it was a LOT! My mom grew up in Kingston, BTW. My grandparents both passed away 2 years ago and I really miss going up there in the spring and fall - such a beautiful part of the world that time of year.

1. Another New Englander here. Born and raised in CT.

2. Grew up here. Now in SE CT because of H's job. Plus, we love being close to RI beaches.

3. This is tough - with H's job we have opportunities to live elsewhere but my whole family is in NE as well as ILs. I am one of 5 kids and really close with my brothers & sisters. In a perfect world, we would have a nice vaca place elsewhere - maybe NC outer banks - love it there.

Both DH and I are from southern CT, born and raised, and I hatehatehatehatehated it there. One day we ended up going to a concert in Northampton, and I thought "Yeah, I can see myself living up here". And so I found a job, packed up and left.

3. If you could pick up and move anywhere, where would that be? I'm madly in love with Seattle.

DrHooch I won't hold it against you that your a fan of the Pack, katemonster is too and we still get along just fine

2. How did you land where you are? (Hometown? College? Following the lurve of your life? Witness protection?) Born and raised about an hour from where we currently live. I would love to move back to my hometown, but with both of our jobs it makes more sense to be where we are right now.

3. If you could pick up and move anywhere, where would that be? Somewhere warmer, although it will never happen. Just about all of our family is here and I can't imagine moving away. During the middle of winter the idea is very tempting!

We're in central OH.

I grew up in the area (we live about 45 min from my hometown), and the job market was better here than DH's hometown when we graduated school. And now that my parents moved, its in between where my parents and his parents live.

3. If you could pick up and move anywhere, where would that be?
We've talked about it, and we'd like to move to NC. Most likely in the Charlotte area- I have family in the area. We'd like to live somewhere where the winters aren't as harsh (but there's still winter) and to be a few hours from the beach.

I live in Massachusetts, West of 495 but not western Ma, so no one knows where it is!

DH and I grew up 2 towns over and moved here when we found the house we wanted.

3. If you could pick up and move anywhere, where would that be?
I would love to move somewhere warmer, but not too warm. NC maybe? DH would rather move north to Maine or the mountains in NH.

2. How did you land where you are? (Hometown? College? Following the lurve of your life? Witness protection?) Hubby's job. Got it right out of college and still there 15 years later. Moved down here 12 years ago to be with him and could easily move, my attachment to this area is minimal.

3. If you could pick up and move anywhere, where would that be? San Diego, we went there on vacation there a few years back and it was beautiful scenery and weather.

2: I was born and raised here. Left for part of the college years, returned for a while then left 4 more times. I'm back but I have the itch after this miserable winter to move south!

3: I would love the Carolina's or Virginia. We have no family there, but I think looks like a nice place to live.

1. I'm in Maryland now, but I'm originally from just outside Boston (seems there's a large contingency of us here!)

2. DH's job... transfer down here

3. I definitely couldn't be landlocked and need to be near the ocean. I'd love somewhere I could go to the beach year round, but I think I'd miss the seasons too. Fall wouldn't be the same.

2. My job but also fairly close to where I went to college which drove areas to move to after college/companies doing recruiting

3. Really love NC but do wish it were a little closer to the beach. The lakes and nearby mountains are really nice though.
